JOB DETAILS:
• Our client a leading supplier of various spare parts is looking for a Workshop Mechanic / Warranty Lead- Diesel Mechanic to join their team;

Duties and responsibilities include but are not subject to:
• Diagnostic Problems – responsible for identifying and diagnosing issues with vehicles or equipment’s using diagnostics tools to pinpoint the source of the problem.
• Repair and Maintenance – Performing repairs and routine maintenance on trucks under warranty & trucks that need to be serviced.
• Parts Replacements – Responsible for ordering, sourcing and replacing damaged and malfunctioning parts.
• Testing and Quality Control – After repairs or maintenance, the candidate is responsible for testing the equipment or vehicles to ensure that the problem has been resolved and that they are safe to use. Quality control is essential to prevent accidents and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Safety Compliance – Must adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to protect themselves and others while working. They may also need to inspect equipment for safety compliance and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Technical Knowledge of Diesel Engines – Mechanics must stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in their field and keep their technical knowledge and skills current. This will involve ongoing training and education.
• Tool Maintenance – The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and caring for their tools and equipment. Proper tool maintenance ensures the accuracy and efficiency of their work.
• Problem Solving – Troubleshooting and problem-solving are fundamental skills. The candidate needs to use their expertise to find root causes & solutions to complex mechanical issues.
• Documentation – Maintaining accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used is crucial. This documentation helps track the history of the equipment, aids in future diagnostics, and may be required for legal or warranty purposes.
• Job Cards – The candidate will be ultimately responsible for generating & maintaining job cards for all activities carried out by the Service Centre.

Qualifications;
• Previous experience essential, especially with truck engines. Cummins and Weichai highly advantageous.
• Competent in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong administrative skills – tracking warranty, record keeping, job cards, part sourcing.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Qualification of some sort relating to diesel truck engines.
• Good knowledge of trucks & truck parts.
• Diagnostics interpretation is vital.
• Can complete basic inspection reports.
• Willing to travel.
• Willing to after hours and on weekends as and when required.
