Background
The Zambia Episcopal Conference [ZEC] is the umbrella mother body of the Catholic Church in Zambia. With its Secretariat located at Kapingila ZEC Guest House in Kabulonga Residential Area. The Bishops Conference owns the Catholic Secretariat in Lusaka. The Catholic Secretariat requires a hard working individual to undertake the role of Accountant at the Secretariat to help with day to day management of accounts.
Job Title: Accountant
The Accountant is accountable to the Finance and Administration Manager, Catholic Secretariat
Job Purpose: Ensuring prudent financial management at Catholic Secretariat

Academic Qualifications:
• Full grade 12 certificate with at least 5 credits
• Degree in Accounts, ACCA/ZICA Qualifications
Professional Qualifications:
• Member of ZICA
Work Experience:
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a busy organization/Private Sector

Required Competences and attributes
• Proficiency in Pastel accounting and Payroll software 4.1.2Writing, analytical and communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills and commitment to team spirit
• Self driven, result oriented and innovative
• Practicing catholic, committed to live the values of the organization on/off work

Main Responsibilities
• Keeping records of office supplies, material and equipment
• Timely preparation of Quarterly and Annual financial reports
• Liaison with funding agencies and other partners
• Collecting invoices/bills and making payments ensuring the prevailing financial rules and regulations of partner NGOs are adhered to
• Quarterly preparation of the variance reports
• Assist the Finance and Administration Manager in monitoring financial situations and process payments according to cash flow
• Make day to day financial entries and maintain books of accounts
• Keeping financial documents and records

Terms and Conditions of service;
• This appointment of Accountant shall be on a two [2] year contract basis with an option for a second contract based on satisfactory performance and good conduct
• A competitive remuneration package commensurate with the advertised position will be offered.
