We are seeking qualified, self-motivated, result oriented, passionate, and empathetic individuals to fill the following positions:
1. DEPUTY HEAD TEACHER – Mongu
Duties
- To be responsible for a specific class or age group of children as directed by the head teacher.
- Monitoring and evaluating the performance of the school.
- Implementing the KAI policies on equal opportunity issues for all staff and pupils in relation to sex, gender, race, disability and special needs
- Comply with KAZ/KAI and all governmental regulations regarding the care of children.
- The development, organization and implementation of the school’s policy for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils and their personal and health education within a KAZ/KAI and Christian context.
- To plan and organize school outings, study tours, spiritual programs and other educational programs for the learners.
- Assist in developing the school budget and monitor the school supply stock
- To ensure that school policies on curriculum, teaching and learning styles, assessment, recording and reporting are done regularly and on time
- Ensuring that the individual pupil’s continuity of learning and effective progression of achievement are provided, using the core curriculum spreadsheets
- To contribute to good management practice by ensuring positive staff participation, effective communication and procedures.
- To demonstrate effective leadership, representation and liaison both within the school and other interested or involved persons or bodies.
- Monitoring, observing, and coaching teacher’s progress towards the implementation of the theory of change
- To contribute to the formulation of the school’s policies and procedures concerning resource management.
- To help in maintaining and developing effective communications and links with parents and to provide positive responses to concerns and problems regarding their children’s education.
- Seek opportunities to invite parents/ careers, members of the Church family, community, business or other organizations into the school to enhance and enrich the school and its value to the wider community.
Experience and Qualifications
- Diploma in Primary school teaching. Degree qualification in teaching is an added advantage.
- 2-4 years of experience working in a private school environment with not less than 2 years in a Deputy Head Teacher position or school management position.
- Registered with the Teachers Council of Zambia
- Understanding and appreciation of the challenges of working in a team, respecting and understanding the diversity of our people and cultures.
- Must be able to speak and write English, Lozi and Nyanja fluently
- A committed Christian with a personal faith in Jesus Christ and a heart for serving orphans and vulnerable children.
2. PRIMARY TEACHER – Mongu
Duties
- To take up day – to -day responsibility for the academic and progress of all the children in the school and endeavour to help children achieve to the best of his or her ability according to the Ministry of Education Curriculum
- To be aware of the specific educational, emotional and behavioural problems of individual children.
- The help maintain a high standard of discipline in the school.
- To produce displays of children’s work and general endeavour to help create and attractive, stimulating learning environment
- To keep appropriate records of children’s progress and systematically evaluate progress.
- To undertake follow up visits to the homes of the children, when necessary, in collaboration with the Trauma Care team
- Develop and issue educational content including notes, tests, and assignments.
- Supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment.
- Deliver personalized instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning.
- Plan and implement educational activities and events.
- Ensure your classroom is clean and orderly.
- Prepare and distribute periodic progress reports and term report forms.
- Attend parent-teacher meetings.
- Be able to proactively create safe spaces for learners and report any child protection incident.
- Provide practical and visible spiritual leadership and mentorship to the children.
Experience and Qualifications
- Diploma in Primary school teaching (certified)
- Registered with the Teachers Council of Zambia
- 1- 2 years of experience working in a private school environment
- Understanding and appreciation of the challenges of working in an international organization, respecting and understanding the diversity of our people and cultures
- Able to teach in English and Lozi
- Must be able to speak English, Lozi and any other local languages fluently
- A committed Christian with a personal faith in Jesus Christ and a heart for serving orphans and vulnerable children.
3. Early Childhood Education Teacher – Mongu
Duties
i. To provide a high quality of education and learning and to offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children attending the preschool class.
ii. To ensure that the welfare and safety of children are promoted within the school and that any child protection concerns are always appropriately acted upon immediately following guidelines and procedures for child protection as recommended by the appropriate authorities.
iii. To take time to listen and respond to children, to encourage participation as appropriate for each child and to support children in their development.
iv. To contribute to the drawing up of plans that ensure each child is making progress in all areas of development.
v. To aim to provide an excellent quality of interaction with the children, ensuring that children receive appropriate support and stimulation in both the indoor and outdoor learning environment.
vi. To participate in the planning of an appropriate curriculum that considers the requirements of the Early Years curriculum guidance and to help monitor the effectiveness of the setting’s curriculum.
vii. To ensure that the preschool is a safe environment for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are always implemented.
viii. To set up preschool activity equipment before the children arrive at the preschool and to pack away equipment at the end of the preschool session as required.
ix. To ensure that records are properly maintained e.g. daily attendance register, medication forms, accident and incident books.
x. To read, to contribute to and to implement all school policies e.g. register and signing out procedures, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, food safety etc.
xi. To attend staff meetings and planning sessions as required.
xii. To keep confidential any information regarding children, their families or other staff members while keeping the children’s wellbeing paramount.
xiii. To attend conferences, training events and to keep up to date with current good practice. To maintain a continuing awareness of developments in Early Years Practice and other relevant matters.
xiv. To act as an ambassador for the preschool, maintaining a positive image of the preschool, whilst maintaining confidentiality.
