Job Description
Research:
• Develop and support implementation of a costed research agenda in line with the RMI strategic orientation and national development agenda
• Secure research funding through designing bankable research proposals specifically targeting applied research themes and topics.
• Commercialize and disseminate RMI consultancy work and research products to the public with a focus on attracting potential research grants funding and consultancy business opportunities.
• Develop and help implement a diversified resource mobilization strategy to increase financial resources for RMI.
• Develop business-oriented contacts with private sector entities, relevant professional bodies, and consultancy and research institutions to generate income for RMI.
• Organize workshops and invite prominent personalities to make presentations at national conferences in the relevant fields.
• Cultivate relations with international reputable peer review committees and contribute to journal articles in the relevant fields of research.
• Document all research findings and consultancy work for easy access and usage by interested parties.
Consultancy:
• Map out consultancy opportunities and develop consultancy quality and competitive bids for RMI.
• Develop market and customer segment opportunities to create outreach activities that meet RMI revenue generating goals.
• Liaise with internal and external experts for conducting consultancy services in the domains of private-public sector partnerships.
Job Profile
Education
The applicant must possess Master’s or PhD degree qualifications with significant study in Public Policy, Operations Management, Development Evaluation and or Negotiations.
Professional Experience Requirements
For PhD holders, applicants must have:
• a minimum of five (5) years successful experience in Technical Support work in research and consultancy operations in the private sector.
• More than five (5) years’ experience working with multilateral research foundations, organizations or consortia.
For Master’s degree holders, applicants must have :
• a minimum of ten (10) years successful experience in Technical Support work in research and consultancy operations in the private sector.
• A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience working with multilateral research foundations, organizations or consortia.
Both PhD and Master’s degree level applicants must have:
• Evidence of success in obtaining competitively awarded research grants and consultancy contracts,
• A very good record of generating research and knowledge for income and actionable policy interventions,
• A track record of high quality publications in reputable journals, media, or other related outlets,
• Membership of professional associations/organizations in related sectors.
Skills
• Excellent business negotiation skills backed by proven relevant experience and training.
• Very strong grants writing skills.
• Excellent policy writing communication and presentation skills in English. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda and French language skills in addition to English would be an added advantage.
• A very high degree of innovative and creative entrepreneurial skills.
• Excellent digital literacy skills.
