Background
African Parks (AP) is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on responsibility for the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. AP manages 23 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Greet guests by name with a cheerful smile, paying attention to their needs.
- Anticipate guest needs.
- Report any guest concerns and complaints to the head waiter.
- Take meal orders and serve hot and cold beverages, ensuring smooth communication between the kitchen and dining area.
- Prepare tables according to the number of guests and their menus.
- Attend to younger guests and guests with special needs.
- Keep the main dining area clean and comfortable for guests, adhering to hygienic camp policies.
- Greet guests by name and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, ensuring glasses, equipment, and supplies are in order.
- Accurately record bar stocks.
- Report any breakages to the Head Waiter.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Previous experience as a waiter or in customer service is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
