The INCREASE Project
SNV Netherlands Development Organization is implementing a project inspired by concepts and lessons from SILMS and E4A projects (an agricultural and a biogas project respectively). The project is called INCREASE (Increasing Climate Resilience in Energy and Agricultural Systems and Entrepreneurship). The INCREASE project is a 7 million Euros SIDA funded project promoting climate resilience in energy, agriculture, and food systems.
The INCREASE project’s goal is to address the major challenge of climate change that farmers, agribusinesses, and SMEs are facing. To achieve this, the project strengthens the adaptive capacity of agricultural and energy systems as well as the promotion of climate smart (CS) diversification practices and productive use of renewable energy.
As the project aims to address the major challenge/s of climate change that farmers, agribusinesses and SMEs are facing using a value chain approach, the project intends to set up irrigation schemes in 12 demo plots. These demo plots are already established Increase models that were set up in 2021 during the rainy season, but will need further irrigation during the dry season to ensure the crops get established as well as assist farmers to grow winter crops.
The irrigation schemes shall be developed and implemented in three (3) provinces and eight (8) district/locations.

The position requires someone who possesses a basic level of knowledge about a tourist Destination and a good knowledge of Travel Products/Packages in Africa.
The applicant must also have a good geographical understanding of a destination and other regions in Africa, as well as the basic day-to-day travel logistics required.
Applicant must be able to advise clients about Products/Packages mostly based on research and training.
Applicant must have excellent sales skills, and be detail-oriented and good at communicating in order to provide efficient customer service.

• Qualifications:
• Travel Industry Work Experience: Minimum 1 year
• Certificate/ Diploma in Travel & Tourism
• Excellent communication skills
• Adequate knowledge of Microsoft word and excel.
• Conversant with the English language
• Customer oriented.
• Develop a mobile application prototype with a least 3 options to be submitted for review when proposal is accepted;
• Develop a user friendly application (for Android and iOS) with a high level of data security linked to the SASPEN website (which should update automatically);
• A Content Management System to enable SASPEN staff to upload, update and tag new content;
• Designing of capacity building, informative and interactive activities (e.g. short e-courses on social protection, information on available courses and scholarships on social protection in the region, social protection quizzes, and games) for enhanced engagement across target audience;
• The application interface should be dynamic and updatable in future (open source) i.e. expansion to other languages);
• Engage with SASPEN focal point to ensure functionality of app is coherent with SASPENs identity and provide training to staff on how to use app;
• Scheduled engagement with SASPEN staff and supporting committee on the functionality of the mobile App at different stages of the consultancy;
• The proposal should clearly state the technical support and maintenance policy provided for the application, and at least technical support of 3 months after launch of App;
• Launch and create access to application on Google Play and Apple App Store and ensure adherence to specific UI standards provided by Apple and Google respectively.

Duration of The Contract
The Initial work for this Service Contract is for 3 months.
Qualifications and experience required
• The company should have a team of experts that include technology experts and coders, social media experts, mobile platform innovation experts;
• Experience in delivering complete Application software solutions for institutional clients;
• The team leader should have at least a minimum of 3 years’ experience and hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
• The team leader should have working knowledge of the work of SASPEN and working experience within multicultural teams and organizations. Knowledge of Africa and development issues is an added advantage;
• Excellent communication, oral, written and presentation skills;
• Strong knowledge in iOS and Android SDK and cross-browser compatibility, web user Interface design (UI);
• Proven ability to document information systems, source code, writing user manuals and other technical documentation;
• Ability to deliver a high-quality product in a timely manner;
• Demonstrable portfolio of released applications on the App store and the Android market.
7. Submission Details

A proposal for the App development which should include;
• Description of the mobile application platform and software to be utilised in the development of the app;
• Mobile application prototype and indicate how the proposed approach will better SASPENs mandate;
• Financial proposal that indicates the all-inclusive fixed total contract price for the project;
• Estimated timeline, for the completion of each step of the App as well as a break-down of the costs;
• Examples of Mobile App/s developed by the applicant;
• Examples of previous work of similar complicity, including at least two references;
• Certificate of registration.
8. Selection Criteria
The technical part of the application will be assessed based on the strength of the proposal that best fits SASPENS needs, as well as previous experiences of the provider in developing such tools.
Specifically, the technical and financial aspects will be scored as follows;
• The consulting company’s planned approach, methodology and timeline (40 points);
• Detailed financial proposal (20 points);
• A description of the multi-disciplinary team, including their expertise and experience in conducting similar work (20 points);
• Previous and similar type of work- written sample(s) of digital applications (20 points).

JOB DETAILS:
I. Timeframe

II. Purpose:
The Client, a medium-sized processor of soya and corn products in Lusaka, Zambia, seeks support from a consultant to estimate, budget, and control company costs, ensure expenditures are kept within budget, and adjust pricing if/where appropriate, with a goal of reducing budget overrun and improving profits.
III. Consultant Role
The Consultant will work alongside the Client to understand the current costs of production, identify opportunities to reduce costs and adjust pricing (if/where appropriate), and begin implementing these strategies. Specifically, the Consultant will:
Review the Client’s current business plan
Work with the Client to understand and document their current costs of production
Review the Client’s current pricing model
Analyze the Client’s recent historical financials to understand drivers of commercial performance
Identify opportunities for cost savings and pricing adjustments to improve profit margins
Build a financial model that quantifies the commercial impact of these opportunities
Develop an action plan for implementing immediate, short-term, and longer-term opportunities
Identify requirements for further technical assistance and investment to achieve intended impact
Work with Client and local TechnoServe staff to implement immediate opportunities
Document findings and the plan for immediate, short-term, and longer-term action in a comprehensive document
Develop a Cost and Pricing Model that the client will use as a template to develop their costing and pricing structures which will be used to assess their profitability from each of their products

Currently based in Lusaka, Zambia Significant technical and business experience in the food processing industry, specifically: – Assessing food processor capacity gaps; predicting capital cost and financial impact – Designing business tools to improve cost efficiency
