JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the Role:
Working within the Control Systems department, you will be actively involved in the development and implementation of electrical vehicle control systems and associated control strategies. Additionally you will also create simulation and analysis toolsets to maximise the performance and reliability of electrical control systems. You will ensure techniques, tools and processes that you develop within the team are effectively deployed.
Principal Accountabilities:
In this role you will:
• Develop, optimise and configure the Standard ECU (SECU) control software to maximise electrical performance and reliability.
• Generate and maintain software and systems to support the operation and performance development of the electrical vehicle control systems, including data analysis, simulation and configuration toolsets.
• Contribute to the testing and validation of control software using Hardware in the Loop (HiL) and Software in the Loop (SiL) test environments.
• Provide advanced systems issue diagnosis from telemetry data.
• Develop and utilise car condition monitoring, data augmentation and data management tools.
• Develop and deploy Control Systems processes, tools and software for dyno and other test facilities.
• Drive development and oversee testing and validation of the relevant car systems for current and future car marques, working with other engineering departments to ensure Control Systems requirements are met.
• Introduce new ideas, technologies and solutions to further improve our performance development capabilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Excellent degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Control, Mechanical, Software, Mechatronics)
• Experience in using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow.
• Experience in modelling/ simulation of control systems with a combination of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components.
• Experience in configuring and operating high-speed data acquisition and analysis systems.
• Knowledge of electrical vehicle systems (transmission, hydraulics, battery system, brake-by-wire) and related control methods.
• Knowledge of data management techniques.

Qualifications
• Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5) Credits or better.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and member of EIZ.
• Relevant work experience in a construction materials laboratory or in the field of geotechnical engineering, civil engineering or a related field.
• Familiar with ASTM, TMH1, SABS and British Standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including early identification of inadequacies in test results data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages (Word and Excel) is a must.
• Effective written, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when (or as need requires) required.
• Flexibility to travel even at short notice.
• Valid Driver’s License
