Reports to: Ward in-Charge
Purpose of the job: Ensuring the provision of quality patient care through facilitation, supervision and supporting the spiritual ministry of the hospital
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Reports to shift on time
2. Attends daily devotions
3. Demonstrates a positive rapport and cooperative work relationship with associates.
4. Displays a willingness to learn new skills, concepts etc.
5. Demonstrates a caring, Christ-like attitude toward patients, their families and staff.
6. Communicates effectively with other disciplines within the facility to ensure a continuum of patient care.
7. Follows instructions when given by Nurse-in-charge.
8. Maintains confidentiality of all CURE patient records and only discusses patient data that is pertinent to the involved health care provider.
9. Demonstrates respect for all patients regardless of tribal origin, gender, race, religion, disease process or financial status.
10. Takes into consideration and assures patient’s rights of confidentiality, dignity and privacy.
11. Practices Universal Precautions on all patients.
12. Maintains work operations by following Cure policies and procedures.
Specific duties.
1. Serve meals, make beds and keep the working environment clean
2. Assists with daily routines of ward as instructed by the in-charge.
3. Washes, cleans, wraps and sterilizes surgical instruments with assistance.
4. Assists in the transportation of patients to and from the OR.
5. Empties all trash containers as needed at the end of work shift.
6. Removes all used and or contaminated linen from ward, sluices and packs it ready to the laundry.
7. Brings clean linen and patient theatre gowns from laundry to ward.
8. Utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner.
9. Assists patients with basic daily activities such as bathing, dressing, using the bathroom etc.
10. Measure vital signs, weight and report findings to the nurse.
11. Monitor stock utilization.
12. Documents actions by completing, reports, logs and records
Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:
Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:
1. Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.
2. Basic life support training added advantage
3. 1-3 years’ experience
4. Leadership skills
5. Planning skills
6. Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
7. Knowledge of relevant nursing care.
8. Friendly and professional bedside manners.
9. Multi-tasking skills.
10. Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
11. Basic computer skills
