The DMU events office ensures students enjoy truly unique and memorable experiences, from a student’s first open day right through to their graduation ceremony which marks the end of the student journey. All De Montfort University (DMU) students belong to one of our four faculties.

Each faculty delivers a wide range of courses to students as well as overseeing world-changing research and fostering enviable commercial links that inform our teaching and ensure DMU courses are relevant to modern employers.

The Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities brings together DMU’s creative disciplines. Its courses range from traditional to boundary pushing and research is rated as internationally excellent. Names such as shoe guru Jimmy Choo and novelist Adele Parks have lectured students thanks to the faculty’s exceptional industry links.

The Faculty of Business and Law delivers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including accounting, law, politics, marketing and business studies, that are all designed with employability in mind. All of our undergraduate courses offer the opportunity to study abroad for up to a year with a partner institution. Housed in the new, state-of-the-art Hugh Aston Building, the faculty is known for its excellent teaching, leading edge research and superb links with industry.

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences educates and develops current and future healthcare professionals. Our long-standing expertise and strong links with industry ensure our students get a head start in their career. Many of our courses are accredited or endorsed by professional bodies, ensuring our teaching is delivered to the highest quality that is recognised by, and relevant to, current practice. Our strong links with industry leaders and direct input from experienced professionals ensure our courses provide students with the essential and specialist knowledge and skills required for graduate jobs.

The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media trains engineers, computer scientists and media technologists alike. From cyber securty and games programming to electronic engineering and radio production, teaching and research is exceptionally varied and constantly being updated and enhanced to ensure industry relevance. Facilities are also industry-standard, so graduates have the skills required for successful careers.

he Board of Governors
The Board of Governors is responsible for the determination of the educational character and mission of the university and for the general oversight of its activities. It approves the university’s strategy, which supports and informs the setting of strategic and other priorities for the future.

Vice-Chancellor and University Leadership Board
The Vice-Chancellor of De Montfort University is Professor Katie Normington. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the organisation, direction and management of the university. She is accountable to the Board of Governors.

The Vice-Chancellor chairs DMU’s University Leadership Board, which is the university’s most senior executive committee. The University Leadership Board meets regularly to manage the university's strategy and steer its business.

Governance and Legal
The Governance and Legal directorate provides executive, administrative and secretarial services to the Vice-Chancellor, the university's University Leadership Board and its Board of Governors. The Governance and Legal directorate includes a dedicated in-house legal team, which provides a full range of legal services to the university. It also incorporates a commercial development unit, which manages a range of key strategic programmes and initiatives.

The directorate is home to the Office of the Clerk to the Board of Governors and also oversees the Chancellor’s Office.

Every academic year, Governance and Legal publishes the university's almanac, which provides details of key personnel and the dates of committee meetings taking place across the university during the forthcoming academic year.
