Video documentary on the Kafue River and Rowing Centre
WWF Zambia, Lusaka
Introduction
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is the world’s leading independent conservation organisation with a global network in over 100 countries. Our mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature. We have been working in Zambia since 1962 organising our efforts across Freshwater, Wildlife, Forests and People.
In order for the country’s critical fresh water bodies to be managed sustainably, there is an urgent need for both policymakers and conservationists across the country to find a way of empowering community members with basic research skills and tools so that they can take a leading role in initiatives aimed at assuring the integrity of natural water bodies. One of the ways of empowering communities is through citizen science. Citizen Scientists are youths and others from local communities who are involved in scientific activities such as the systematic collection, analysis and dissemination of data on forests, wildlife, water or climate. On the Kafue Flats, WWF is working with the Water Resources Management Authority, Earth Watch and World Rowing to empower youths through citizen science, which is part of its larger Kafue River and Rowing Center initiative.
It is therefore seeking a creative agency to document its work on citizen science, and how it fits with the envisioned Kafue River and Rowing Center, in form of a video documentary. Objectives of the Assignment – Deliverables
Working closely with the Freshwater and Communications team from both Zambia and WWF International, the creative agency will be expected to deliver the following;
1. A script for the video documentary (with guidance from the teams)
2. A 5 to 10 minute video documentary highlighting the work of WWF and its partners for airing on national television and their YouTube channels.
3. A 2 to 3 minute fundraising video for WWF and partner social media channels. This video will mainly focus on the plans for the Kafue River and Rowing Center, a world class research and rowing center.
Overall, WWF Zambia is looking for a high quality product that can be used both locally and internationally to showcase its work.
