JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
Management of health information which include up to date skills in health information management system (HMIS) and its key component such as the DHIS and Hospital MIS; Smart care; and epidemiology and data utilization. Ensures timely information collection, compilation, analysis, reporting and management.
Responsibilities:
1. Undertakes effective updating of SMARTCARE database and backup TDBS
2. Undertakes effective updating of data in DHIS2 and backup excel file
3. Undertake accurately retrieval of data from the database or electronic files as requested
4. Facilitate and supervise the monitoring and evaluation of programs through data collection, entry, processing, analysis, review and utilization of data for policy and decision making
5. Undertakes Data Quality Improvement Activities (DQI) at site level to ensure good quality of data reported and used for proper demonstration of project results.
6. DQI activities include among others the following: Routine Data Quality Checks;
7. Monthly Data Quality Reviews; and Quarterly Data Quality Audits.
8. Undertakes monthly data validations to ensure that submitted data meets the 6 dimensions of data quality; Completeness, Consistency, Correctness, Validity, Timeliness and
9. Accuracy both within and across PEPFAR MER indicators.
10. Ensures that supported sites are reporting timely and accurate MER data once weekly monthly, and quarterly basis using appropriate tools/ templates
11. Undertakes and provides regular orientation in data management systems (MER indicators and DHIS2) in order to impart appropriate skills and knowledge to other staff.
Required Skills, Competencies and Experience
1. Full Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O' Levels including English, Mathematics & Science
2. Diploma in Demography, Information Technology, computer studies, Library and information studies and statistics.
3. Minimum of three years of prior experience in a similar work place
4. Ability to use computer programs: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS-Power-point
5. Ability to use SmartCare, DHIS2 will be added advantage
6. An innovator, who can initiate new ideas and activities.
7. Able to work with minimum supervision.
8. Good Communication both oral and written.
