Role Overview
The Pit Engineer will oversee the design, planning, and execution of mining activities within the open-pit mining operations. The position requires strong expertise in pit planning and management to ensure mining activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement short-term and long-term pit designs and mining plans.
• Coordinate with operational teams to ensure proper execution of mining activities.
• Conduct geotechnical assessments and ensure structural stability of open-pit designs.
• Supervise drilling and blasting activities to optimize resource extraction.
• Monitor production rates and evaluate operational efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Provide guidance and support to junior engineering staff.

Qualifications and Experience
• Grade 12 certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining-related operations.
• Proven experience in pit planning and design.
• Valid Silicosis certificate.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Fully paid-up member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Proficiency in mining software and MS Office applications.
• Strong communication and supervisory skills.
