JOB DETAILS:
We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the field. You will travel to various job sites to make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, tractors, trenchers, forklifts, and more. Applicants should have some experience with diesel heavy equipment repair so they can determine what parts and tools are necessary for repairs. you need a valid driver’s license to travel to job sites.

Duties
• Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
• Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines, petrol and electrical propelled motors.
• Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs Complete.
• Able to service various machines, that’s tractors, forklifts and earthmoving equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Able to maintain a strong reporting record on Field Cards.
• Able to open and close job cards to a point of invoicing
• Able to rebuild and disassemble diesel Engines, Petrol Engines and Transmission systems from scratch.
• Able to work with less or no supervision and complete works in a manner that meets company standards and customer satisfaction.
• Able to attribute high level of confidentiality and maintain high level standard of work ethics.
• Able to operate and inspect machines and heavy duty equipment in order to diagnose defects
• Able to diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment
• Able to dismantle and assemble Heavy Equipment using hoist and hand tools
• Able to clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance works on equipment and vehicles.
• Able to examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
• Able to schedule maintenance and industrial machine equipment and keep equipment service records
• Able to read and understand operating manuals group prints and technical drawings.
• Able to overhaul and test machines or equipment to insure operating efficiency.
• Able to fit bearings to adjust, repair or overhaul mobile mechanic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Able to weld or solder broken parts and structural members using electrical or gas welders and soldering tools.
• Able to fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal
• Able to adjust, maintain, repair or replace sub assemblies such as transmissions, axels, engines and hydraulic systems

Qualifications
• Full grade 12 certificate
• Diploma in Heavy duty engineering OR training as a Diesel mechanics (a plus)
• 2 to 5 years of experience with diesel/heavy duty equipment repair.
• Auto electrical is an added advantage.
• Welding experience (a plus)
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
