JOB DETAILS:
CATTLE FARMING – JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Fixed Term Contract 3-6 months
A large commercial farming operation in Zimba, Zambia; is seeking to employ the services of a responsible young man, in his mid-twenties, with a solid understanding/experience in commercial cattle farming and with an added tertiary education in agriculture/farming; (preferably grown up on similar farm.) The position is best suited for person(s) looking for an internship position. Fixed Contract position for 3-6 months. .
Job Responsibilities:
• Ranch mapping- mapping and recording of all fence lines, water points, camp sizes, grazing quality and grass types per camp.
• Herd survey- Electronic survey of all animals on the ranch.
• IT – Support the field staff in the integration of the hardware and flow of data into the software systems.
• Prepare reports and documents on SOP (Standard Operations Practices)
• Assist and support Field Staff in understanding and implementing the SOP
• Other- May be required to Support feedlot operations and other projects and operations on an ad-hoc basis..

Job Qualifications:
• A Tertiary education in Agriculture. Animal husband or other farming modules are an added benefit
• Require min 3 years’ experience on commercial farming. (growing up on a commercial farm may be considered to contribute to experience)
• Computer literate – including excel
• An understanding of record keeping necessary to extract accurate results for cattle rearing both grazing & feedlotting.
• Ability to self-manage his time
• Responsible to produce accurate reports
• Drivers licence & ability to ride a motorbike
• Traceable references..
