LLP is hiring for the position of Library Manager. The Library Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations at the Nabukuyu Mumuni Library 23 KMs East of Monze town and building the capacity of library staff and volunteers. .
Key Responsibilities:
• Interacting with Library Users in accessing library services
• Overseeing library staff and volunteers, ensuring that the library is adequately supervised at all times that the library is open during its stated hours of operation, and that staff is performing effectively
• Planning and coordinating LubutoStorytime (Read Aloud program) and other reading programs and activities
• Providing reference services and assisting library users in finding information and materials
• Supervising library programs (LubutoDrama, English Language Program, Makerspace Activities, LubutoMentoring, LubutoArts, LubutoLaptops and LubutoLiteracy)
• Developing ideas for special programs for children and exploring initiatives for promoting early childhood literacy
• Coaching and training library supervisors and other LLP staff and volunteers
• Coordinating Nabukuyu Mumuni Library volunteer program
• Ensuring the collection of accurate monitoring and evaluation data in consultation with LLP’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Director of Operations
• Working with the Technical Services Librarian in acquisition of local books and materials and weeding the collection of old, damaged and/or outdated materials
• Conducting stock-takes of all books and assets held at the library
• Conducting library tours for any interested groups and/or school groups
• Taking part in events to promote the work of LLP and widen understanding of the LLP model
• Communicating regularly with LLP regarding the running of the library and any issues which occur
• Lead and participate in routine advocacy meetings with traditional leaders, partner organizations, the Nabukuyu Basic School, and others to coordinate joint activities
• Support the Scholarship Program Associate working with the girls enrolled in the scholarship program
• Conduct outreach on a weekly basis, to promote awareness of library services
• Maintain regular written and oral reporting to leadership on key program and staff issues
• Develop and maintain proactive, positive and professional relationships with all local stakeholders, including prospective partner organizations, other NGOs, donors, clients, key government officials, etc.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Diploma or higher in Library Information Studies or Equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in library services
Technical and Behavioural Competencies
• Ability to work in a team environment;
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Able to speak local languages including Tonga, Nyanja, Bemba and any other will be an added advantage
• Computer literate is a must
• Excellent organization skills and ability to delegate;
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
Job Education Requirements: Diploma or higher in Library Information Studies or Equivalent.
