JOB DETAILS:
JOB PURPOSE
The ideal candidate is expected to be a highly organized individual, able to operate independently in a structured way and should be able to handle multiple activities and tasks concurrently. The successful candidate’s compensation package will be dependent upon knowledge, experience and qualifications.
Responsible for managing deliveries and offering expertise on maintenance of the company trucks and trailers.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Day-to-day liaison with clients to understand their haulage requirements.
• Planning, managing and able to give instructions to Company drivers daily.
• Ensure trucks are not idle at any time.
• Give clear instructions to drivers to ensure they count goods loaded onto trucks to avoid shortages.
• Give clear instructions to drivers to ask for a recount when not sure.
• Ensure drivers conduct daily vehicle inspections and record findings on the checklist.
• Ensure driver feedback on each and every trip.
• Preparation of tracking reports, accident repo rts, and other reports required internally or externally.
• Ensuring trucks load, clear borders, keep moving, unload and clear the ports efficiently
• Documentation and pre-alerts to clearing agents.
• Preparations of fuel orders and delivery notes, uploading drivers per diems, road tolls, and other trip- related expenses.
• Coaching drivers for continual improvement through proper communication and guidance.
• Management of Loading and offloading trucks
• Briefing on truck status in meetings.
• Hold and document trip briefs and de-briefs.
• Communicating internally on the progress of each collection or delivery with commercial teams.
• Keep a serialized inventory of truck and trailer and accessories.
• Carry out physical inspection of the trucks and trailer to ensure they are right condition.
• Updating of the in-house Vehicle Management/IT systems
• Ensuring haulage and transportation regulations are complied with.
• Monitoring driver Productivity and individual driver performance through the company KPI structure.
• Supporting the executive team with business development activities.

COMPETENCY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
• Previous experience with a similar role is preferred but not essential.
• Experience in dealing with haulage and transportation regulations.
• Possess a good geographical knowledge of Zambia.
• Able to work with multiple stakeholders
• Strong computer literacy, with good experience using some form of database or spreadsheet applications. Experience in MS Office/Google Office suite
• Ability to communicate issues incorporating data clearly and with concision show less
• Be able to handle pressurized situations and will have the ability to multi-task.
• Excellent physical condition
• Organizational and Communication Skills: The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members, managers, and clients. The candidate should be able to clearly explain issues related to the vehicle’s mechanical components and provide recommendations on maintenance scheduling and repair work.
• Attention to Detail: The candidate must ensure the safety of the vehicle and its occupants. He/She must have sound knowledge of road safety regulations.
• Time Management: The potential candidate must have the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks and manage their time efficiently to meet delivery deadlines and schedule maintenance and repair work.
• Problem-Solving Skills: The candidate must possess problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems effectively. The candidate must be able to identify the root cause of the problem and develop a plan to address it. This should include among others:
• Mechanical skills and knowledge of mechanical systems
• Troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with complex electronic control systems
• Ability to use computerized diagnostic equipment well

QUALIFICATIONS
• 2 years of experience in Logistics/Fleet Management/ Customs Clearance
• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• A minimum certification from a vocational/trades school or completion of apprenticeship
• A clean valid driver’s license
• Excellent knowledge of heavy duty mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
• Working knowledge of heavy duty vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
