JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose

This role will report directly to the Director General and will be responsible for actualizing the Authority’s Communication Strategy, disseminating information to the Public, Scheme Members other stakeholders and enhancing the Authority image. It will act as ‘mouthpiece’ of the Authority and actively engage all key stake holders to ensure that timely and accurate information such as product development, Authority Strategy Plan, member coverage and quality of services is disseminated.
The role will also be responsible for identifying key stakeholders and engaging them on an on-going basis for the benefit of the Authority and Scheme members. It will also oversee and coordinate all internal communication plans using such platforms as intranet and all other social media platforms, e-mail bulletins, etc, to ensure uniform and consistent delivery of Authority messages.

Key Responsibilities

The key functions of the role will include but not limited to;
1. Identifying key stakeholders of the Authority on an on-going basis and devising strategies of engaging with them on a sustained basis for the benefit of the Authority
2. Implementation of a communication strategy in order to guide information dissemination;
3. Managing and coordinating research, surveys into stakeholder’s perceptions and image of the Authority to achieve a positive reputation for the Authority;
4. Responsible for the Unit’s Budget and ensuring that utilisation is within budget for all Communication and Public Relations activities;
5. Facilitating the Authority’s participation in official functions, media programmes and maintaining relationships with the media;
6. Facilitating the development of brochures, documentaries, branded materials and advertisements in order to build the NHIMA brand and create awareness;
7. Commissioning or undertaking relevant market research to inform decision making;
8. Managing the Authority’s website and other social media platforms ensuring that all information housed therein is correct and current;
9. Managing and coordinating all social and community social corporate responsibility activities;
10. Managing internal communications messages and branding rules ensuring that same are consistent across all internal media and for different departments of the Authority;
11. Measure and provide reports on each public relations campaign to inform decision making and improvement.
12. Recruit, hire, onboard and train new members of the public relations team
13. Produce content for various speeches and events for Management and the Board.
14. Undertaking any other tasks/assignments as may be delegated by the supervisor relating to public relations.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
1. Full Grade Twelve (12) School certificate with credits or better in 5 subjects which must include English and Mathematics;
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, or any related field.
3. Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role.

2. Good interpersonal skills;
3. Strong influencing and negotiation skills;
4. Good presentation skills;
5. Initiative and resourcefulness.
6. Adept with the social media;
7. Highly organized and work minimal supervision; and
8. Proficiency office applications such as Word, PowerPoint and many other relevant applications.
