Overview

The Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) is a statutory body established under the repealed Securities Act, Cap. 354 of the Laws of Zambia and whose existence is continued under the Securities Act, No. 41 of 2016 to regulate and promote the orderly development of the Zambian Capital Markets. SEC is responsible for, inter alia, licensing of financial intermediaries and securities exchanges, the registration of securities such as debt and equity instruments and authorization of collective investments schemes.
The SEC seeks to recruit one (01) qualified person as Market Research and Product Development officer for a short-term period of six months to enable the Commission to achieve its objectives both in terms of its overall mandate as well as its strategic objectives.
1. Job Title: Market Research and Product Development Officer
Job Purpose: Plan, implement, control, analyze and report on capital market information gathered and recommend to management new financial products.
2. Reporting: The Job holder will report to the Manager- Market Development and Manager-Financial Inclusion

3. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Key Result Area Principal Accountabilities (Main Duties)
• Conduct capital market research and analysis to identify business needs and opportunities Prepare capital market analytical reports
• Analysis of published data and statistics both from within and outside the Zambian capital markets Prepare analytical reports and policy recommendations
• Evaluation of Capital markets products relating to market penetration, consumer protection and consumer benefits, effectiveness of the product for a vibrant market Prepare reports with recommendations
• Assessing current performance and future trends of capital market products or services. Prepare recommendation papers based on product performance findings
• Commissioning/coordinating/collaborating of capital market surveys related to research and product development services Undertaking of capital market surveys
• Collaborate in roadshows, financial education/investor education awareness programs Assess impact for existing for Financial/Investor education and awareness programs
• Planning and organizing market development activities Develop event calendars and project reports for market development activities
• Assist with duties as may be assigned by management Provide any other information requested for by management on a timely basis.

• Possess information gathering and presentation skills.
• Good report writing skills.

Qualifications
Minimum Academic/Professional Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Economics, Digital Marketing Statistics or equivalent from a relevant field.
2. Masters in any relevant field will be an added advantage
3. Experience in the capital markets in Zambia or other jurisdiction will also be an added advantage
