Network System Engineer

We are looking for a Network System Engineer to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware, and networks. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

What you will do:

• Establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards
  
• Design and implement new solutions and improve the resilience of the current environment
  
• Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and network optimization
  
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  
• Troubleshoot issues and outages
  
• Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  
• Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
  
• Manage source control GIT
  
• Manage communication and collaboration tools such as Email, JIRA, Confluence,Slack
  
• Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access
  
• Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
  
• Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects
  
• Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware release
  

You will be a good fit if:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Sciences, Technology, degree or relevant experience
  
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role
  
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  
• Able to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  
• Prior experience in a network security role
  
• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  
• Ability to create scripts in Bash or other languages
  
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
