JOB DETAILS:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
• Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and risks.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with management, supervisors, and employees to promote awareness of health and safety issues and foster a culture of safety.
• Provide training and education to employees on health and safety practices, procedures, and regulations.
• Monitor and evaluate workplace conditions and practices to ensure compliance with health and safety laws and regulations.
• Maintain records and documentation related to occupational health and safety activities, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training records.
• Review and analyze data and statistics related to workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Coordinate with external agencies and authorities on occupational health and safety matters, including inspections, permits, and certifications.
• Keep abreast of developments in occupational health and safety regulations and best practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
• Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Technician) preferred.
• Proven experience as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Physical ability to perform inspections and other job duties as required.
