JOB DETAILS:
The ideal applicant will have expertise in overseeing a sizable fleet of Trucks and a track record of lowering expenses and boosting productivity. He or she will be in charge of leading a group of fleet coordinators and formulating and enforcing policies and procedures “SOP’s” relating to fleet operations. Our fleet must be operated in a manner that is safe, effective, and economical.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure that all Trucks are serviced and maintained correctly in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and corporate policy.
• Maintain accurate records of all vehicle servicing, repair, and maintenance activities. Monitor and track fleet inventory, including fuel usage and mileage. Create reports on fleet performance and activity. Schedule and coordinate vehicle repairs and maintenance with outside vendors and service providers.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures related to fleet operation; Schedule and coordinate vehicle repairs and maintenance with outside vendors and service providers; Maintain accurate records of all vehicle servicing, repair, and maintenance activities; Monitor and track fleet inventory, including fuel usage and mileage; Produce reports on fleet performance and activity for senior management.
• Contract negotiations with vendors and service providers
• Manage and direct a group of fleet coordinators and technicians; instruct new hires on fleet policies and procedures; critically manage QHSE issues affecting the business and formulate policy in this regards: cooperate with insurance companies to settle claims.
• Ensure adherence to local statute and governing Laws.
• Proactively manage associated risks.
• Develop and implement training modules for vehicles and equipment use and care.
• Implement standard documentations to ensure accountability related to all loading offloading and billing of Loads
• Ensure all statutory compliances are Adhered to at all times
• Be involved in the Recruitment of a team to maintain the highest standard of operational efficiency.
• Be familiar with & Recommend any Software or other programs to boost accountability & efficiency
• Ensure fleet is On the road at an efficiency of 90
• Liase with operators for the day to day running of fleet
• Develop best practices in man-management

Skills and qualifications
5+ years of experience;
Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, or a related profession.
A member of the Zambia Institute of Transport and Logistics
Strong leadership and team-building abilities. Working understanding of DOT laws and compliance. Proven track record of lowering fleet expenses and boosting efficiency.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Must have some Auto Mechanical experience.
Experience in movement of High Value cargo such as Copper in Bulk & cathode and risk mitigation
Experience cross-border Movement of fleets .

Preferred abilities and credentials
Proven success in designing and executing innovative solutions to challenging problems. Proven ability to think outside the box and challenge the status quo.
MBA or other advanced degree. 7+ years of experience in fleet operations management would be an advantage!
