Job Summary
Kascco is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer with a strong understanding of mining industry procurement needs and challenges. Based in Kalumbila, Zambia, the Procurement Officer will oversee sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management for our mining projects, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of equipment, spare parts, and services. The ideal candidate will bring mining industry experience, enabling efficient procurement aligned with operational goals and the demands of a challenging, fast-paced mining environment.

Position Description
This position reports to the System Development & Optimization Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Mining-Specific Procurement:
• Source and procure heavy machinery, equipment, and essential spare parts specific to mining operations, including crushing, drilling, hauling, and earthmoving equipment.
• Engage with suppliers of industry-specific consumables such as lubricants, drill bits, safety gear, and explosives.
2. Supplier Management & Evaluation:
• Identify and establish relationships with suppliers experienced in supporting mining operations, ensuring they meet our quality, safety, and delivery standards.
• Conduct rigorous assessments of supplier reliability, capacity, and adherence to Kascco’s standards, focusing on reducing downtime risks and supporting continuous mining activities.
3. Cost Efficiency & Budget Control:
• Negotiate competitive terms, prices, and contracts with vendors, focusing on maximizing value for equipment and consumables critical to mining production.
• Track and monitor procurement budgets and expenses to control operational costs, reporting on cost-saving measures achieved through strategic sourcing.
4. Inventory Management:
• Develop and maintain an optimized inventory system to ensure the availability of critical mining supplies while minimizing excess stock and storage costs.
• Coordinate with on-site teams to manage parts and supply forecasts aligned with scheduled maintenance and production timelines.
5. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
• Ensure compliance with Zambian procurement laws and environmental regulations related to mining activities.
• Maintain precise records of purchase orders, supplier contracts, warranties, and certifications for accountability and audit purposes.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate closely with site managers, engineering teams, and logistics to anticipate procurement needs and resolve supply chain issues promptly.
• Contribute to project planning phases by providing insights on lead times, supplier capacities, and alternative options for critical equipment and materials.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
• Full Grade 12 certificate.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Mining Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in procurement, with a focus on mining or heavy industries.
• Certifications: CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or relevant mining-related certifications are preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP and procurement systems.
• Strong understanding of mining equipment, consumables, and vendor networks within the region.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with the specific regulatory, environmental, and safety standards for procurement within the mining sector.
• Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to work under pressure and adapt to the dynamic needs of the mining industry.
