THE ENGINEERING INSTITUTION OF ZAMBIA
JOB OPPORTUNITY - REGISTRAR
BACKGROUND The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is a professional statutory body established to register and regulate the professional conduct of Engineering Professionals, Engineering Students and Engineering Organizations or Units in Zambia. It draws its authority from the Engineering Institution of Zambia Act No. 17 of 2010 (the Act) and comprises about 45,000 members, both individuals and corporates. EIZ has existed since 1955 and is thus one of the oldest professional bodies in the Land. The Organs of EIZ include the Engineering Council, the Engineering Registration Board (EngRB), the Secretariat and the Disciplinary Committee. The Institution hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Registrar.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Registrar, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), reports to the Engineering Council and is responsible for providing overall leadership to the Secretariat in order to execute on behalf of EIZ, the statutory functions of registering and regulating Engineering Professionals and Engineering Organizations or Engineering Units in accordance with provisions of the EIZ Act and the EIZ Constitution. The Registrar therefore oversees all operations, functions and activities of the Secretariat..

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Enforces the EIZ strategies, policies and procedures aimed at attaining its mandate
• Registers and deregisters Engineering Professionals and Engineering Organizations or Units in accordance with the Law.
• Licenses and revokes Licenses for Engineering Professionals and Engineering Organizations or Units in accordance with the Law.
• Serves as Secretary and Convener of all Organs and Committees of EIZ.
• Conducts regular resource planning and develops annual budgets and implements controls to ensure prudent application of the Institution's resources
• Develops a conducive work culture, good work ethics and corporate governance in the Institution
• Reports and provides pertinent advice to the Engineering Council on the performance of the Institution.
• Cultivates and nurtures good relations with the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ), stakeholders, regional and international Engineering bodies and institutions to foster cooperation and goodwill necessary for the success of EIZ

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12 Certificate of Secondary Education or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent from a recognized higher institution of learning
Master's degree in Engineering related field OR Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Professional qualification level in Accounting/Finance recognized by the Zambia Qualifications Authority
Over 10 years working experience, including industrial exposure, 5 years at senior management level in a reputable organization.
• Membership of Engineering Institution of Zambia or any professional body that is affiliated to the International Engineering Alliance
• Fellow of ElZor any member that is eligible to be admitted as Fellow
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Amature Zambia citizen aged between 47 and 57 years
Ability to interpret and analyze financial reports and relevant Laws Computer literate (MS Office and any ERP)
Qualifications in basic law is an added advantage
• Excellent leadership attributes including interpersonal, communication, mentoring, organizational and coordination skills.
