JOB DETAILS:
The Role
The success candidate will be responsible for supporting the rock tools contract by providing guidance in correct usage of tools, management and distribution of products and keeping accurate records of rock tools use and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage rock tool inventory and tracks all new issues, discards and losses
• Perform daily delivery services of tools to each drill on site as need arise
• Remove all worn and damaged rock tools from the drill sites
• Utilize Rock Tools Management System to monitor and report on tools performance
• Troubleshoot and provide technical recommendations and improvements to Supervisor and Site manager
• Report occurrences that may indicate improper usage or selection of tools by operators
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports
• Stays current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.
• Build sound relationships with the rock tools team and internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Adhere to the Sandvik Environmental Health and Safety policy
• Attend toolbox meetings
• Comply with applicable legal requirements
• Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety procedures
• Perform risk assessments before undertaking any task
• Participate in hazard identification and reporting
• Participate in incident/near miss investigations
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) all the time
• Maintain good housekeeping at a workplace
Qualifications
• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
• Certificate in mechanical fitting or heavy equipment repair
• Valid class C driver’s license
• Knowledge and experience with industry-specific equipment
• Prior experience in the mining industry is a definite asset
• Knowledge of rock drill operation
• Competency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Engineering Institute of Zambia membership
