JOB DETAILS:
The National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC) was instituted by the Government of the Republic of Zambia in 1993 as a non-partisan National Economic Think Tank' to provide supplementary advice on the management of the Zambian economy.
In pursuit of its mandate, NEAC seeks qualified, experienced and dynamic professionals to join its Secretariat in the following positions:
This is a senior management position reporting to the Principal Policy Analyst. The successful candidate will be offered a three-year renewable contract.
Key Responsibilities
• To assist in the execution of the functions of the Principal Policy Analyst.
• To develop policy advice.
• Undertake comprehensive analyses of the performance of the socio-economic policies.
• Identify topical issues concerning the global and Zambian economies.
• Maintaining a database of relevant statistics and study/research reports relevant to undertake various economic analyses.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Educational Qualifications: -
• MSc, or MA in Economics (Coursework with Thesis). PhD in Economics will be an added advantage (Course work with Thesis).
• Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
• Mature with a high degree of confidentiality and respect for diversity.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in economic policy analysis Proven record of research.
• Ability to write lucid and coherent technical reports, policy briefs and advisory notes.
• Ability to generate advisory notes from technical reports and policy briefs within the shortest time possible.
• Proven track record in econometric programming, modelling, data analysis and forecasting skills. Proven good record in the interaction with various economic sector stakeholders and professionally competent in both micro and macroeconomic policy frameworks for the Zambian economy.
• Computer literacy in word processing. PowerPoint presentations, and programming in Excel, Access, Stata, EViews, and SPSS, among others.
• Excellent minutes writing, facilitation and presentation skills.
• Ability to work long hours and under pressure.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and quickly execute assignments.
