Responsibilities
As a Technical Operations and Training Manager at Standard Microgrid Initiatives, your duties and responsibilities will include:
• Developing, implementing, training, and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): You will be responsible for creating and implementing SOPs to ensure consistent and efficient technical maintenance processes throughout the organization.
• Managing grid stability and uptime: You will oversee power utilization and grid maintenance to enhance end user satisfaction.
• Working with the executive committee to develop operational maintenance and training strategies for the business: Collaborating with the executive team, you will contribute to the development of a comprehensive maintenance and training schedule that aligns with the company’s budget, mission and targets.
• Implementing the maintenance and training strategy: You will be responsible for executing the maintenance and training strategy aligned to the predefined schedules, budget and project management standards which includes staffing the technical and administrative maintenance team.
• Monitoring project performance: You will track and analyze task and technical data received from the field, evaluate performance against targets, and generate reports to provide insights to the executive committee. This will help inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensuring compliance: You will ensure that all technical installations adhere to relevant laws, safety regulations, and ethical standards, promoting a culture of integrity and compliance within the organization.
• Technical customer service: You will be responsible for the in-house ticketing system, ensuring compliance, monitoring turnaround time and ensuring effective remote and on site troubleshooting.
• Training and Development: You will be responsible for the in-house “Powertime University” platform. This includes writing, updating and reviewing training material and assessments as well as supporting training candidates across the whole business portfolio.
• Managing ongoing promotional activities: In collaboration with the Customer service and Sales Manager, you will coordinate and manage promotional activities to raise awareness of Standard Microgrid’s initiatives, products and services. This may involve organizing events, conducting marketing campaigns, and leveraging various communication channels to reach the target audience
• Leading and motivating the technical team: You will provide leadership, guidance, and support to the technical team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. This includes setting targets, conducting performance evaluations, and providing training and development opportunities.
• By effectively fulfilling these duties and responsibilities, you will contribute to the growth, success, and positive impact of Standard Microgrid Initiatives in providing sustainable energy solutions and improving access to electricity in rural and peri-urban communities.

Qualifications
To excel in the role of Technical Operations and Training Manager at Standard Microgrid Initiatives, the following desired experience and qualifications are preferred:
• Relevant experience: A minimum of 2 years experience in project management and implementation.
• Strategy development: Experience in developing and implementing effective maintenance strategies and schedules.
• Customer service excellence: Experience in managing customer inquiries and complaints, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction with regard to technical troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customers, team members, and executives.
• Analytical and strategic thinking: Proficiency in analyzing data, to make informed decisions and draw conclusions for report writing. Ability to think strategically, identify opportunities, and solve problems.
• Project management skills: Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure successful project execution.
• Qualification: A qualification in business administration, Electrical engineering or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
• Language and cultural awareness: Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.

These desired experience and qualifications will enable the Technical Operations and Training Manager to effectively drive sales, deliver exceptional customer service, and contribute to the growth and success of Standard Microgrid Initiatives
