Job purpose
The Hospital Administrator will be responsible for the management, direction and coordination of non- medical activities such as purchasing, procurement, contract administration, general administration, safety and all human resource services for the purpose of attaining the goals and objectives set forth by the CEO and the board of directors.
Duties and responsibilities
• Monitors and works to improve efficiency and quality of the hospital
• Develops departmental and institutional goals
• Streamlines both the financial and operational practices.
• Overseeing the collection, securitization, and utilization of both patient and facility data
• Procuring funding through both local and international partnerships
• Ensures legal compliance and adherence to accreditation guidelines
• Ensuring compliance with governmental policies and insurance reimbursement
• Oversees procurement of supplies and manages vendor relationships
• Recruits, hires, and trains staff and develop employee policies and procedures.
• To participate in planning and implementing the organization’s mission and strategies.
• Developing standard operating procedures in consultation with heads of various departments
• Serving as a liaison between facility staff, governance and patients
• To recommend, develop and update strategic long-range plans to support the practice’s, philosophy and goals
• To provide support and guidance to the CEO with regard to management of all assigned aspects of the administrative operations of the organization
• Responsible for developing, reviewing & implementing procedures and policies to better serve the patient population and staff welfare
• Participates in budget processes
• To ensure all statutory regulations of the organization are complied with, relating to i.e. contracts, immigration status, business permits, fire regulations, legal matters and public relations etc
• Overall, in charge of the departmental staff performance and attendance activities
• Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates
• To maintain a working and to develop additional relationships with insurance companies, clients, corporate institutions & regulatory bodies relating to membership and services offered by the organization
• To provide administrative services and to ensure all administrative services are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner
• Involved in administration aspects of general maintenance activities
• To coordinate all staff recruitment, selection, and orientation processes
• Provide current and prospective employees with information about the organization’s human resource policies, duties, working conditions and remuneration etc
• Administer compensation benefits and performance management systems along with safety related programs
• To monitor staff performance and attendance activities, involved in drawing up duty rotas for all non-medical staff and medical staff duty rotas in coordination with the head clinical care and head nursing care.
• Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates
• Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems
• To provide support and advise to senior management and all supervisors to develop the skills and capabilities of staff to their optimum abilities
• Refereeing disputes and administering disciplinary procedures
• Responsible for all human resource activities of the organization, and to work hand in hand with senior management in planning organizational needs, developing and implementing administrative management policies
• Involved in local and international purchasing as well as stock control and to provide audit trails
• To initiate and engage in all manner of activities, whether administrative or other, conducive to the growth and smooth running of the institution with permission of the CEO
• To undertake such additional related duties to ensure the smooth running of the administration department
• To undertake any other duties assigned by the CEO as may arise
Qualifications/Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a managerial role in healthcare
• Deep understanding of local and international healthcare laws and policies
• Leadership skills with steadfast resolve, empathy and personal integrity
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and multitasking skills
• Ability to work long hours and remain on-call
• Computer Literate
• Master’s degree in healthcare administration is an added advantage
