JOB DETAILS:
We are looking for a dedicated, conscientious, and competent laboratory technologist to take responsibility for a medical laboratory at our new outpatient healthcare facility in the Ibex Hill area of Lusaka. The laboratory is equipped with modern equipment covering a wide range of tests. The technologist must be familiar with standard tests and must ensure that the equipment is properly maintained, and down times kept to the minimum possible
This is a full-time appointment offered on a renewable two-year contract.

Responsibilities
• Collecting, receiving, labeling, and/or analyzing samples or substances using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.
• Designing and executing laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, recording observations, and interpreting findings.
• Recording all test results accurately and in the specified format (written and/or electronic
• Organizing and storing all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
• Ensuring at all times that the laboratory adheres to safety guidelines.
• Maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
• Cleaning, sterilizing, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment.
• Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.

Academic Qualifications:
• Diploma in medical technology or a related field.
• Valid practicing license
• Work Experiences and Skills :
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a laboratory technologist at a reputable institution.
• Working experience operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.
• Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.)
• In depth knowledge of QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment) management systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database systems
• Working knowledge of automated laboratory equipment.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good analytical skills

Remuneration:
The salary is negotiable and will depend on the suitability, experience and skills of the candidate.
