The USAID Integrated Land and Resource Governance II (ILRG II) Project is seeking applications from qualified organizations to provide support for Women in Law Enforcement in the Conservation sector in Zambia.

ILRG II’s support for women in conservation law enforcement in Zambia aims to improve biodiversity and habitat conservation outcomes (including forests) through increasing gender equity within the sector. This may be achieved through increasing the number and efficacy of trained women in frontline law enforcement, as well as through influencing the practices of conservation institutions from government, non-government and community partners.

The program should increase the awareness of GBV and improve the resources and practices used by government departments and NGOs to recruit, train and operate to ensure that women are full and effective participants in resource law enforcement. It should also provide mechanisms that support their retention, success, and professional development for the benefit of women in active law enforcement roles, as well as future women who may enter the sector. The activities must focus on social norms and institutional biases within government departments, individual supporting NGOs, and the overall wildlife law enforcement ecosystem. The approach must also mitigate against risks of gender-based violence in its many forms.
