Maamba Energy Limited (MEL) is jointly owned by Nava Bharat Singapore Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH Plc. The Company owns and operates a large-scale coal mine and has also constructed and operates a 300 Mega Watt Coal fired Power Plant to cater for the growing demand for power in Zambia.

Job Summary
The Senior Lithium Geologist will play a vital leadership role in our exploration and resource development program, contributing technical expertise in lithium geology, exploration strategy, and resource modelling. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in lithium brine and/or hard rock deposit evaluation, mineral exploration, and project development, leading to block modelling and beneficiation. They will be responsible for overseeing exploration initiatives, managing field teams, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge geological techniques, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet the company’s exploration and resource growth objectives.
The role will involve mentoring junior geologists, developing exploration strategies, and interpreting data to drive decision-making on prospective lithium assets.

Key Responsibilities
Exploration Strategy Development & Implementation
Lead and develop exploration strategies to identify and evaluate lithium-bearing deposits.
Plan and oversee site exploration programs and drilling operations.
Prioritise exploration targets based on geological data, geostatistics, and resource modelling.
Geological Analysis & Modelling
Utilise geological software and modelling techniques to evaluate and interpret resource data.
Develop 3D models of lithium mineral systems, integrating structural geology, geochemistry, and drilling data.
Project Management & Technical Leadership
Lead field programs, manage drilling projects, and oversee exploration timelines and budgets.
Ensure projects align with company exploration goals, sustainability requirements, and safety standards.
Manage and mentor exploration and field teams, ensuring skill development and technical excellence.
Data Integration & Interpretation
Analyse and interpret data related to geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and drilling results to support discovery and resource growth.
Prepare and present technical reports and findings to senior management, stakeholders, and technical teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work with cross-functional teams, including mining, engineering, safety, environmental, permitting, and community relations, to support exploration activities.
Foster relationships with government bodies, communities, and other partners to ensure smooth permitting and exploration progress.
Environmental & Safety Oversight
Ensure that exploration activities adhere to all safety and environmental compliance standards.
Actively manage risk associated with exploration projects and drilling campaigns.
Ensure that all exploration activities are carried out in a manner acceptable by the regulatory bodies such as the Geological and Mine safety Departments and the Zambia Environmental Management Authority.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences required; a Master’s degree or Ph.D. will be an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in mineral exploration, with a strong emphasis on lithium (hard rock, or related lithium deposits) experience.
Proven experience in resource modelling, exploration targeting, and deposit evaluation.
Direct experience with lithium brine exploration processes or hard rock exploration related to spodumene or other lithium-bearing minerals is required.

Skills & Expertise:
Advanced experience with GIS systems, geostatistical modelling, and geological software tools (e.g., Leapfrog, MapInfo, Surpac, or equivalent).
Proven leadership experience managing field programs and multi-disciplinary technical teams.
Exceptional technical reporting and data interpretation capabilities.
Expertise in geochemical sampling methods, structural analysis, and resource estimation methods.
Certifications:
Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
Registration as a Professional Geologist or equivalent certification is preferred.
