JOB DETAILS:
The National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC) was instituted by the Government of the Republic of Zambia in 1993 as a non-partisan National Economic Think Tank’ to provide supplementary advice on the management of the Zambian economy.
In pursuit of its mandate, NEAC seeks qualified, experienced and dynamic professionals to join its Secretariat in the following positions:
Policy Analyst (X2)
This is a middle management position reporting to the Senior Policy Analyst. The successful candidate will be offered a four-year renewable contract.
Key Responsibilities
• To assist in the execution of the functions of the Senior Policy Analyst
• Collection of data relevant to the production of appropriate reports on the performance of the global and Zambian economies.
• Collection of data/information on the performance of socio-economic policies in Zambia.
• Undertake comprehensive analyses of the performance of the socio-economic policies.
• Develop concept notes/position papers highlighting probable direction for policy advice in the Government.
• Initiate the generation of policy advice.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
• Minimum Pursuing MSc or MA in Economics at the thesis stage.
• MSC or MA in Economics (Course work and Thesis) will be an added advantage.
Skills, Knowledge, Attributes & Experience:
• Strong economic modelling, data analysis and forecasting skills
• Computer literacy in word processing, PowerPoint presentations, and programming in Excel, Access, Stata, EViews, and SPSS, among others. Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent minutes writing, facilitation of meetings, and presentation skills.
• A high degree of confidentiality and respect for diversity.
• Ability to generate advisory briefs from technical reports and policy briefs within a specified time.
• Ability to work long hours and under pressure.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and quickly execute assignments.
In addition, those pursuing MSc or MA degree in economics at the thesis stage will require the following:
• Minimum of two (2) years post-qualification (First degree in Economics) experience in economic policy analysis.
• Proven record of research.
• Ability to write lucid and coherent technical reports such as policy and advisory briefs.
