JOB SUMMARY:
The position of Mechanical Fitter is a non management position and the job holder is responsible for maintaining mechanical installation for the corporation in line with established standard maintenance routines and procedures, OEM recommendations, relevant law, and industry best practices. All maintenance of mechanical installations shall be aligned to the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.
The position attracts a management salary scale of KGN3.
REPORTING TO: SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

KEY RESPONSIBIUTIES WILL INCLUDE;
• Execute repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and inspection of all mechanical systems at
• KGLHPS (i.e., turbine/generators, bearings,
• HPU, cooling water system, intake gates, spillway gates, and other balance of plant equipment, etc.).
• Participate in troubleshooting problems and perform periodic inspections.
• Participate in the development of maintenance
• MBIA DAILY MAIL. Tuesday, April 18, 2023 procedures.
• Attend plant safety meetings and follow all safety rules and regulations. Participate in lockout/tag out to isolate machinery for inspections and maintenance.
• Provide emergency after-hours support (call out) and standby duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• A Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from an institute of recognized standing
• Minimum of eight years of experience working as a Mechanical Technician in a utility or in the private sector and experience in generating equipment, and or complex industrial systems.
• Familiarity with Francis turbines and associated equipment is an asset. Must be prepared to undertake further development of technical or leadership skills through participation in internal and external training and development.
• Thorough knowledge of the use and care of all instruments and test equipment.
• Possess initiative and mature judgment with the ability to make and implement sound decisions.
• Conversant with and adhere to safety rules and regulations.
• Physically capable of performing all the duties of the position.
