JOB DETAILS:

Duties and Responsibilities
• Operates pumping equipment to transfer raw water to fields, turns valves, pulls levers, flips,
• Reads flow meters and gauges to regulate equipment according to water consumption and
demand,
• switches to operate and control turbine- or motor-driven pumps that transfer water from
canal to fields,
• Inspects equipment to detect malfunctions, such as pump leaks or worn bearings.
• Repairs and lubricates equipment, using hand tools,
• Records data, such as utilization of equipment, power consumption, and water output in
logbook,
• Occupational Health and Safety,
• Must also understand centre pivot operations.

Requirements and Experience
• Grade 12 school certificate
• Minimum Certificate in General Agricultural or Agricultural Engineering
• 2 years’ experience as an irrigation supervisor
• The candidate must have good interpersonal and computer skills, pay attention to details,
pro-active and innovative or demonstrate initiative
