EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY –
BUILDING INSPECTOR
The Zambia Institute of Architects (ZIA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Building Inspector.
Job Purpose
To plan, organise and coordinate all Inspections under the Institute. .

Job Responsibilities:
• Managing and administering the assigned division(s);
• Planning, directing, and evaluating the work of subordinate staff;
• Overseeing and performing building and structural inspections as necessary;
• Interpreting and explaining codes, related laws and ordinances;
• Reviewing current codes, administrative bulletins and code rulings, and preparing recommendations for revision or additions;
• Establishing Inspection and Operational Procedures:
• Directing the preparation and maintenance of records and reports;
• Representing the Zambia Institute of Architects at meetings, hearings, commissions, boards, and in court; reviewing and resolving complaints regarding inspection servrices, plan reviews, code interpretations, and/or code violations;
• Coordinating with other institutions as a response team in the event of emergencies and disasters; and performs related duties as required.
• Ensure that buildings comply with municipal and state codes, ordinances, and zoning regulations

Job Qualifications:
• Grade 12 school certificate
• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or any Construction related field
• Membership with a Professional Body
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in the Construction Industry
• Driver’s Licence Minimum Class B
• Prior experience as a Building Inspector in a Local Authority will be an added advantage.
