EduServe is the trading arm of the Rhodes Park Schools Group and currently operates the School Shops, Cafeteria and Tuck-Shop as separate business units, at Rhodes Park School campus (in Northmead), Woodford School Lusaka campus (in Kabulonga) and Ashford Academy campus (Ngwerere Road, 6miles area).

Job Purpose
The highest member of the Company management with ultimate responsibility for leading the Company and looking after its business activities, financial and physical resources, employees, assets and overall well-being. The primary role is to harness opportunities for generating new sales leads, monitor and ensure the implementation of effective delivery of services and tasks by all parts of the company.
The Business Development and Operations Manager (BDOM) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Company, and for creating and maximizing opportunities to grow and improve the Company’s financial resilience and sustainability. S/He is in charge of creating awareness of the Company and its successes by defining and managing a marketing strategy suitable for its target markets.

Responsibilities
• Look after the overall business of company by providing leadership and making sure that all parts of the Company are working to their best capacity and that all line managers, supervisors and employees are doing their jobs.
• Give direction and leadership toward the achievement of the Company’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.
• Must effectively initiate, plan, organize and coordinate activities to ensure they meet objectives against agreed deadlines.
• Overseeing pricing and stock controls
• Create, Implement, and monitor Business Development Plans, through involving the appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure high quality implementation
• Recommends yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manages Company’s resources within those budget guidelines
• Strictly adhere to laid down authorization procedures and guidelines to ensure checks and balances in procurement processes are sustained.
• Manage, train and induct all staff to ensure Company objectives and expectations are clearly being met.
• Lead and supervise the progress of individual departments of the Company and the overall progress of the Company.
• Sets business goals and assigns targets to the employees and makes sure that the employees are providing productive results for the Company.
• Ensure Company meets important regulatory, legal, health and safety requirements.
• Promote in employees a culture of team spirit and should use own initiative.
• Effectively interact with other departments, including Accounting and Academic, to ensure full collaborate in timely manner on important specific aspects that are likely to affect the operations of the Company.
• Service and Product Delivery – Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of services and products.
• Dealing with customer queries and complaints
• Works out and implements measures that will enhance the going concern of the Company i.e. profitability, cost controls, budgeting. This includes research and analysis of sustainable projects and financial management measures that will improve company performance and enhance increased shareholders’ value in the Company.

Knowledge, Experience & Personal Competencies:
• Full Grade 12 certificate with 5 Credit or better
• 5 Year Experience in retail operations with 2 being in management level
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or its equivalent
• Excellent Leadership, People Management Skills, and business orientation
• Analytical and time management skills
• Customer management skills and Strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal, written communication and inter-personal skills
• Hands-on experience with MS Excel, Word and other computer packages
• Must be Proactive and Innovative
