JOB DETAILS:
Lunsemfwa Hydro Power Company (LHPC) is located in Kabwe in the Central Province of Zambia and is owned by Agua Imara (51%) a subsidiary of SN Power and Wanda Gorge Investments Ltd (49%). LHPC owns two hydropower plants: Mulungushi Power Station (32 MW) and Lunsemfwa Power Station (24 MW), with a combined generation of up to 400 GWh. The two power stations have both an upstream reservoir and four generating units each. The units at Mulungushi Power station were installed in 1927, 1941 and 2009 and the units at Lunsemfwa Power Station in 1945, 1961 and 2012. The older units have undergone refurbishment in the last eight years. LHPC entered into a Power Purchase Agreement for 15 years with ZESCO in 2018. LHPC is also a member of SAPP.
The Role
The primary focus of the role will at this stage be to develop a strong team with the required technical skills to ensure optimal and stable production as well as financial performance. Secondly, the focus will be on developing and executing strategies to secure the long-term viability of the company and to attain the goals of the Board and the shareholders. This may include major refurbishment and upgrades and to develop new capacity within hydro and other renewable energy sources, and solar power being of priority. The position will be based in Kabwe and daily presence there, as well as frequent presence at both power stations, will be required. The position reports to the Board of Directors of the company. Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, preferably having assumed the same level of position in a reputable company. He/she will have at least 10 years’ experience in companies within the electrical power sector and at least 15 to 20 years of professional experience.
LHPC is now searching for new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to head the company.. .

Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the company's business strategies to attain the goals of the board and shareholders
• Provide strategic advice to the board so that it will have an accurate view of the market and the company's future
• Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost effective Operations and market development activities
• Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times
• Communicate and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners, authorities and the communities in the company's area of operons
• Oversee the company’s financial performance, investments and other business ventures
• Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of executives providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
• Further develop and maintain a strong focus on risk management procedures to ensure high standards of health and safety and minimize risks of technical break— downs
• Act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the company in ways that strengthen its profile
• Analyse problematic situations and occurrences and pro
• Wide solutions to ensure company survival and growth.

Required skills
• Proven experience as CEO or other senior managerial position with strong track record within operating hydropower assets
• Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
• Thorough knowledge of energy markets and understanding of market change processes
• Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
• Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to build strong well-functioning motivated teams, based on delegation and participation
• Ability to build credibility and trust both with governmental bodies and various stakeholders both in Zambia and in the region
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong and proven skills in efficient technical operations and risk management
• Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions.

Qualifications
LHPC is by legislation an engineering company registered under the EIZ and ERgB Acts. The CEO will be an engineering degree holder and a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
