The University of Lusaka is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill up the positions of Clinical Instructor/ Preceptor (3) in the Department of Nursing under the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Clinical Instructor/ Preceptor

Description
• Reporting to the Principal Tutor, Clinical Instructors are responsible for providing effective instruction and assessment during clinical practice training of undergraduate Diploma in Registered Nursing students in the classroom, skills laboratory and clinical area. The clinical instructor must identify the strengths and weaknesses of the nursing students, while providing a nurturing atmosphere of experiential training where they can grow intellectually as well as professionally.
• Successful applicants for these positions will be responsible for the following:
• Acts as a Clinical Resource in areas of expertise; Conducts group conferences to help students or trainees to share and relate personal clinical experiences to nursing material taught in didactic training.
• Develops and presents formal classroom instruction to learners by performing such activities as: readying needed teaching materials, operating audio-visual equipment, monitoring examinations, maintaining attendance and other records and similar tasks.
• Responsible for researching content, developing presentations and lesson plans. Coordinating training dates and times to meet the educational needs of areas as assigned for staff development, training and evaluation.
• Evaluates learner proficiency in making application of classroom training in clinical practice and remediate on strengths and weaknesses.
• Conducts demonstrations and supervises clinical practice of selected technical procedures.
• Collaborates with other instructors to determine if issues within the clinical practice are system wide or isolated to one area/unit.
• Collaborates with other health team members to ensure staff education is coordinated to accomplish desirable clinical outcome efficiently and effectively ensuring evidence-based practice standards are met.
• Prepare all student assignments and ensure compliance to all academic course programs and evaluate performance of all trainees in classroom clinical training.
• Train and provide feedback to all nursing students to ensure optimal quality of work and provide consultation to various nurses for nursing education programs.
• Assist all student nurses to adjust to the trainee group and ensure optimal work performance in the assigned ward to meet all customer objectives and train all students to minimize infection and contamination.
• Coordinate with students and manage all communication with the same and provide optimal level of training through practical training.

QUALIFICATIONS
• An Advanced Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
• A minimum of 2 (two) years’ experience work in a medical institution (ward). Member of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ).
• Proficiency in computer application systems.
• Unquestionable professional integrity, stature and abilities.
