Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to conduct research, evaluate, recommend, and implement new alternative methods of collections and recoveries strategies for the unsecured and/or secured portfolios within Absa Retail Bank using leading-edge data analytics and predictive techniques
Job Description
• Undertaking collections portfolio analysis and monitoring (incl. roll rates, LGDs and PDs, propensities, forecasting of collections and cash flows. Formulate and implement financial collections strategies and processes.
• Efficient and effective reporting on strategies, prioritization, and tasks to Head of Retail Credit Risk.
• Efficient and effective reporting on performance of credit products and debt management and credit cards systems.
• Responsible for handling Collections and Recoveries project aspects including data analysis, project scoping and implementations, business models, specifications, progress tracking, management of resources and team capacity. Identify new collection opportunities to enhance collection strategies i.e., payment capability, reminders, engagement, channels.
• Continuously review and track performance benefits of collections and recoveries activities and recommend improvement adjustments to Retail Credit and Collections to meet short term plan (STP) budgets and medium-term plan (MTP) budget targets.
• Develop and deliver significantly enhanced collections plans through the assessment and classification of risk.
• Evaluate and maintain the repayment arrangements and design and document the collection options.
• Participate in the strategy setting and design of the Collections incentive programs to ensure their effectiveness in motivating collectors and ensuring performance is improved to attain budgeted targets.
• Review the implementation of Debt Counselling process to ensure impairment risks are managed and customers, where applicable, are rehabilitated. Participate in the process of evaluating debt sale methodologies and make recommendations on debt sale strategies, prices offered, what debt to sell and what to abandon.
• Develop strategy and policy tests to challenge and enhance current strategies.
• Ensure Management Information (MI) in place or is developed to monitor strategy performance and effective implementation/adherence by quality checking MI teams reports and reviewing the information at Retail Credit risk review sessions.
• Ensure systems used for implementing collections strategies are fit for purpose and identify and specify enhancements by confirming strategies are working as required and as per implementation plans
• Analysis of management Information with appropriate recommendations to the Head of Retail Credit to help inform strategy on the relevant portfolios Work in corroboration with
• Portfolio Managers and Manager Collections and Recoveries in ensuring that the agreed strategies are being executed and monitored with results being tracked as per defined frequency
• Ensure clear understanding of retail credit risk appetite and problem loan management policy and confirms that collection and recovery processes are designed to deliver upon those requirements Review the collections strategy document with stake holder and adopt workable strategies that give collections flow optimal benefits

Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
