About the project
EFZ is implementing a three (3) years TearFund Switzerland funded OVC Education and Livelihood project. The project will provide education and child protection support to targeted children and youths to access education and live within safe families and communities that are committed to and are promotive of child well-being. Secondly, the project will focus on improving access to information on sexual and reproductive health and rights for adolescents to prevent early pregnancies and school dropout among the targeted project participants. It will also facilitate training in income generating activities (IGAs) and formation of savings groups (SGs) so that families taking care of orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) have the knowledge and skills to provide for their children’s well-being.
The project will be implemented in 3 provinces (Central, Copperbelt and Lusaka) and 5 districts (Kabwe, Kafue, Kalulushi, Lusaka and Mufulira). The project will support a minimum of 1000 OVCs (Children/youths) in Primary, Secondary and higher/university Education; 2000 adolescent will be equipped with knowledge on sexual reproductive health and 2000 households taking care of OVCs (Children/youths) will be linked to SGs and supported to begin IGAs.
Purpose
The main objective of the baseline study is to set the benchmarks to ensure that the OVC Education and Livelihood Support Phase II Project contributes to Improved access to and quality of education for OVCs (Children/youths) as well as improved livelihoods for households taking care of OVCS (Children/youths). The consultant will design and carry out the baseline survey, including gathering qualitative and qualitative data from areas of implementation.
Qualifications of Consultant(s)
Essential
• Degree in a relevant field; advanced degree (master’s ) preferred
• Demonstrable previous experience conducting similar project baseline
• Extensive experience with log frames, M&E, measuring project indicators
• Proven quantitative and qualitative skills including data analysis and statistics
• Proven experience in conducting quality baselines and assessing development programs especially in the area of Child Rights and protection and Sexual Reproductive Health
• Proven skills in interviewing and leading FGDs
• Strong English writing skills with a clear writing style
Appropriate IT skills
