JOB DETAILS:
Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and developing the Mechanical Maintenance function to enable the department meet its maintenance KPI and production targets and ensure that equipment in the department are safely maintained as per Kansanshi Mining Plc standards
Experience
• Minimum of 8 years work experience in mining maintenance preferably in a fixed plant on equipment such as the Crusher, Pumps, Mills, Thickeners, Blowers, Flotation Cells etc.
• Exposed to and/ conversant with Maintenance Management Systems such as PRONTO, SAP etc.
• Strong understanding of maintenance methodologies and application including Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
• Knowledge of Failure Analysis methodologies, reliability principles, maintenance strategies, condition monitoring, and continuous improvement processes
• Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Experienced in planning and shutdown management

Duties and Responsibilities
• Budgeting and cost control including cost reduction initiatives
• Promoting and encouraging compliance with the Safety, Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures, and regulations aiming for a zero incident work culture
• Daily day maintenance and repairs of equipment including preparations of subassemblies
• Ensuring safety and wellbeing of subordinates through identification of risks and hazards through risk assessments including participation in plant safety inspections and PTOs/VFLs
• Work and resource inputs into the weekly planning schedules and shutdowns through liaison with planning office with a 100% execution compliance
• Supervision and coordination of subordinates engaged in maintenance activities, repairs and installation of equipment by maintaining quality and workmanship
• Compliance to legal and regulatory requirements such as Mine Safety Department (MSD)
• Management of spares and inventory control including rotables (refurbished spares)
• Plant improvements and asset management through tracking and communicating maintenance KPIs such as Availability and Mean Time between Failures (MTBF), highlighting good and bad equipment actors
• Providing input into the review/update of PM tasks and activities by ensuring that all PM’s and activities have a clear purpose in assessing machine conditions, defect identfiication and prevention of failures
• Reviewing, updating and implementing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) procedures and support RCA team members accordingly

Qualification
• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or equivalent field

• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and registered with the Engineers’ Registration Board (ERB)
