Purpose
To coordinate and oversee air and water monitoring plans and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
• This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Take a leadership role in the implementation of the air, water and radiation monitoring plans.
• Set annual and monthly monitoring management targets.
• Ensure suitable quality control measures are implemented and constantly monitor and check quality of all aspects of the monitoring plans.
• Continually explore new monitoring areas and opportunities to better understand the impact of the operations on the receiving environment.
• Have an understanding and making of air pollution models and how it disperses in the atmosphere using software such as CALPUFF, ADMS, AERMOD, DURB etc.
• Have an understanding of Geological Information System (GIS) to map pollution.
• Ensure all monitoring equipment, including Continuous Emission Monitors (CEMS) is well maintained and suitably calibrated to deliver the highest quality monitoring.
• Maintain data and data systems supporting all the monitoring programmes.
• Coordinate site inspections for environmental compliance.
• Supporting the execution of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Liaise with other departments to ensure that all environmental aspects and impacts are well communicated.
• Enhance the management of effluent with a focus on “Zero” site effluent discharge, through water re-use and recycling initiatives.
• Develop measures to ensure environmental incidents are eliminated or kept to a minimum.
• Carry out environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA)
• Any other duties as directed by Superiors empowered to exercise authority over him/her.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
• Grade 12 School Leavers Certificate
• Professional Qualification:
• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering,
• Chemical Engineering or any related field from a top university.

Experience
• Five (05) years minimum
• Possession of a driver’s licence

BEHAVIOURAL TRAITS

Ability to properly manage own work with minimum supervision.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Computational:
• Computer literate in Microsoft office packages (Power BI, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Oral: Oral/Strong interpersonal skills essential.
• Written: Written skills essential in preparing reports.
• Physique: Walking and standing ability required.
• Working Conditions: All weather conditions.
• Age : Below 40 years.
