JOB DETAILS:
Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position to be based in Lusaka, Zambia. This person will report into a Regional Structure Lead based out of the Regional Office in South Africa.

Purpose of the position:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Country Manager to lead our operations in Zambia for a leading beer and beverages multi-national. The Country Manager will primarily be accountable for developing and executing the localised in- country strategy, business plan and operating model; achieving the in-country annual business objectives; growing and sustaining high-performing in-country operations and supporting the Africa Region objectives. They will also take accountability and responsibility for promoting and building the Company vision and brand by forming and maintaining relevant and influential relationships with key government, industry, supplier, distributor, customer, and consumer stakeholders, thereby enabling success for the Company.

Key Performance Areas include, but not limited to:
• Strategic & Financial: Development and execution of the in-country strategy and ensuring alignment with the greater business strategy by collating business intelligence; focusing on customer segmentation; product and brand portfolio selection, marketing, and trade marketing; stakeholder management; budget setting and management; developing a 3-year Capex plan; cashflow, balance sheet and P&L management and optimisation; and developing revenue management capability and pricing strategy. Seek out new areas of growth and value creation through integration synergies.
• Route to Consumer: Develop a winning Route to Consumer strategy with the right channel segmentation, channel strategy, distributor management and localised PiCOS along with a digital future fit Route to Consumer
• Operational: Driving operational effectiveness, overseeing the management of day-to-day operations and ensuring that operational execution is aligned to the in-country strategy, annual and long-term business plan by identifying, influencing and managing cross-border trade workings with the Regional Team; overseeing "on the ground" marketing capability and developing brand programme management of products including beer, cider, wine and spirits; and leading Key Account and Channel specific negotiations on the Customer side while remaining accountable for supply chain capabilities and operating procedures.
• Statutory compliance: Ensure compliance with local tax and regulatory requirements, including understanding and implementing tax stamp regulations for products within the existing portfolio. Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company's operations are aligned with the latest requirements.
• Relationship Management: Accountability for establishing an effective corporate affairs function in order to engage stakeholders to shape a favourable environment and enhance corporate reputation by taking responsibility of the high-level relationships for the benefit of the company and enabling enduring, rewarding relationships with stakeholders and upholding and building the reputation of the business.
• Organisation Design: High accountability for shaping and developing a market fit organisation in close collaboration with the Regional Office
• Leadership: Identifying, leading, developing, and retaining talented leaders to head functions by developing and enabling an innovative, supportive climate to nurture highly engaged people
• Innovation: Devising and implementing new ways of enhancing and supporting the business by identifying and executing innovative opportunities and being accountable for identifying short- and long-term solutions to secure the sustainability of the company operations in country.

The successful candidate must have the following experience, competencies and qualifications:
• A relevant and recognised commercial tertiary qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce degree) is preferred along with a minimum of 12-15 years' managerial experience with a strong Sales, Marketing and Stakeholder Management focus.
• Proven experience leading the development of strategic plans; managing P/L of similarly sized businesses and a track record of business leadership and performance.
• Proven experience as a Country Manager/General Manager or in a similar senior management role within the beverage industry, preferably in the beer sector.
• An understanding of the supply chain and manufacturing environment is essential.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing business strategies that resulted in revenue growth and market expansion.
Excellent leadership abilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
• In-depth knowledge of tax and regulatory compliance requirements in Zambia, including experience with tax stamp regulations for alcoholic beverages.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages is a plus.
• Flexibility to travel within the country and internationally as required.
