JOB DETAILS:
Civil Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill the vacancy in the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment as indicated below:
(a) JOB PURPOSE
To manage and coordinate the development and implementation of forestry policies and programmes for sustainable management of forest resources in Zambia for the benefit of present and future generations.
(b) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• The successful candidate will be reporting to the Permanent Secretary and shall be responsible for:
• Policy Formulation and Legislation: Managing the formulation of and review policies and legislation in order to provide guidelines for forestry development;
• Forestry Management Plans: Managing the development of forest management plans in order to guide implementation of programmes;
• Programme Implementation: Managing effectively the implementation of forestry programmes for sustainable management of forest resources,
• Forest Enterprises: Managing effectively the development and implementation of forest-based enterprises in order to generate income and contribute to employment creation and poverty reduction
• Research and Development: Promoting and supporting research and development in order to foster sustainable forest management.
• Extension Services: Promoting and supporting the extension services delivery in order to raise awareness and enhance community participation in forest resources management;
• Forest Plantation Development; Promoting and supporting the establishment and management of forest plantations in wood deficit areas in order improve the availability of wood products.
• Education and Public Awareness: Promoting and undertaking the implementation of education and public awareness strategies and programmes in order to disseminate information and forest community participation in forest resources management Monitoring and Evaluation; Supervising the periodical monitoring and evaluation of projects and programmes in order to facilitate the efficient and effective management and utilization of forest resources
• Performance Management: Ensuring effectively the implementation of performance management systems in order to facilitate improvement in performance and productivity.

REQUIREMENTS
The Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• A Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) Credits including English Language and Mathematics or its equivalent;
• Degree in Forestry, Environment, Natural Resource Management and related fields;
• 10 years' professional post-qualification experience in forest management; and
• Minimum age of 35 years.
