Job description
XSML Capital is recruiting an ESG Compliance Monitoring Consultant in Zambia. The main role is to assist portfolio companies in implementing the action plans defined during the Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD). The consultant will play a key role in improving the ESG practices of companies, ensuring compliance with international standards such as those of the IFC, and identifying opportunities for sustainable value creation.

Main responsibilities
• Support portfolio companies in implementing ESG action plans resulting from ESDD assessments.
• Provide regular follow-up and advice to ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards (1 to 8).
• Develop and implement ESG systems and procedures tailored to the needs of companies.
• Train and build the capacity of internal teams on ESG management while ensuring skill transfer to local resources.
• Oversee the progress of ESG actions in the field and adjust action plans based on operational realities.
• Prepare detailed progress reports on ESG improvements with clear recommendations to enhance sustainable performance.

Required skills
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Environmental, Sustainable Development, Social Management, etc.).
• Experience in ESG risk management, business consulting, or compliance with international standards.
• Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards and international regulatory frameworks related to ESG.
• Experience in training and supporting teams on environmental and social management systems.
• Based in Lusaka, Zambia, or available for a commitment in Zambia.
• Proficiency in English.
• Knowledge of ISO standards 9001, 14001, 45001 is an asset.
