JOB DETAILS:
Major Responsibilities
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the growth of food processing SMEs in Zambia
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and government officials
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities for food processing SMEs
• Provide technical assistance and support to food processing SMEs to improve their efficiency, profitability, and growth
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor the implementation of project activities and provide support to project beneficiaries
• Collaborate with other members of the project team to ensure project activities are implemented effectively and efficiently
• Assist in regular data collection from FED clients
• Ensure compliance with project and donor reporting requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned by the FED Project Manager

Overall responsibilities include:
Market linkages
• Foster linkages and facilitate effective market communication among key actors, including farmers, to improve the quality and reliability of the supply chain.
• Empower food processing SMEs to comprehend the pricing mechanisms utilized by processor buyers.
• Collaborate with the FED project to map value chains, analyze gender dimensions, and identify potential intervention points to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Thoroughly understand the indicators and targets outlined for the program and keep up-to-date with any updates or changes.
• Collaborate with the M&E Manager to effectively track program indicators and report on progress.
• Collect relevant impact data at the processor level to accurately monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
Other
• Collaborate closely with the Business Advisory and Technical Assistance units to develop effective strategies for monitoring and evaluating clients on an ongoing basis.
• Foster strong relationships with clients and provide ongoing guidance and support to help them overcome challenges and achieve their business objectives.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client interactions and program activities to inform program decision-making and ensure accountability.

Key Deliverables
• Regularly report on the progress of established market linkages between farmers and FED clients to ensure effective collaboration and progress towards program objectives.
• Report on the establishment and effectiveness of aggregation networks to enhance market access and improve supply chain efficiency.
• Prepare and submit comprehensive quarterly M&E data reports to the M&E Manager to track progress against program targets, identify any areas for improvement, and ensure transparency and accountability.

1. Required Skills & Experience:
Candidates applying should possess the following requirements:
• Zambian citizen or right to work in Zambia
• Minimum of Diploma in Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, or similar, a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage
• 2 years relevant working experience preferably working directly with SMEs and/or cooperatives in the agro-processing industry
• Demonstrated experience creating well-functioning and empowered farmer groups and/or cooperatives
• Ability to engage and advise different stakeholders, including farmers, consultants, extension workers, and traditional leaders at local level
• Ability to design and carry out task under minimal physical supervision;
• Willingness and ability to travel often to the field;
• Good computer skills in Office software (Excel., Word, PowerPoint);
• Fluent in local languages (dependent on location)
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
