Job Description The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department and ensuring timely financial reporting to Fenix Zambia and Fenix Global management teams. The Controller will report directly to the Director of Operations & Finance and work closely with Global Operations Finance Team. The Controller’s main responsibilities include managing and coaching of the team, building a culture of professionalism and integrity, and ensuring proper and timely reporting of financial statements to Zambia and Global management. The Controller will also have great impact on the overall strategy of Fenix Zambia by working closely with all other Department Heads on monthly budget to actual reporting and with the Managing Director and Global team on cash flow management and budgeting strategies. Due to the sensitive nature of this role and financial information, we expect the highest levels of professionalism, dependability, and integrity.   Key Responsibilities
• Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Manage, train and coach a team of 4-10 employees;
• Live by and set a team culture in line with our values around integrity and professionalism;
• Ensure month-end close and submission of monthly reporting package to Zambia and Global management within 5 business days;
• Ensure completion of month-end reconciliations within 10 business days;
• Coordinate with Global team to ensure proper recording and reconciliation of complex revenue accounting, intercompany transactions, and debt facilities;
• Ensure annual financial statements are complete and accurate and proper reporting to internal and external parties;
• Create and manage Zambia financial and budget reporting – provide clear monthly reports to the management team on performance to budget, cash flow projections, and risks, and monthly MD&A reporting;
• Manage relationships with external auditor and completion of financial statement audits;
• Own the preparation of annual income tax return with 3rd party consultants;
• Assess & implement operational accounting processes and policies, best operational accounting practices, purchasing guidelines, and financial reporting processes; and
• Perform other tasks as required by the Director of Operations & Finance or other members of the Fenix Zambia or Global management teams.

  Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Finance or Accounting
• 7 years experience in Accounts and strong experience managing teams and ownership over financial statement close process and preparation / review of financial statements
• ZICA or ACCA qualified
• Member of ZICA
