About the job General Manager/MD, Safari Industry, Zambia
The perfect candidate will have at least 6 Years Experience in management and will be responsible for day to day running of all the properties as well achieving lodge revenue & profit targets, through efficient management of operations and control of costs.
Our client is looking for someone that can commit to a long-term career plan and possible concession to MD.
Extensive travel will be required.

Key skills and Minimum Requirements:
Ø Tertiary Education relevant to the Tourism Industry
Ø Min 6-years experience in managing high end lodges in remote parts of Africa
Ø Min 4-years experience in a senior management position and responsible for regional lodge operations
Ø Financial Management experience and understanding
Ø Knowledge and experience in Sustainability and ESG aspects of running a photographic safari business.

Job Responsibility and function:
Guest Experience:
Ø Proactively manage Guest feedback and ensure that action points are in place with the Heads of Department.
Ø Monitor Service delivery in all areas of the Hotel and identifying performance gaps and ensuring that corrective points are in line.
Ø Continuously seeking opportunities to improve the guest experience.
Ø Proactively manage VIPs ensuring interaction and procedure is followed.

Employee Engagement
Ø Create awareness at all levels of the Lodge Key Performance Measurements and how the success of achieving the targets set on the KPIs.
Ø Attending to the employee welfare and development and meeting reasonable expectations
Ø Managing the business through the employees
Ø Development of a localization and training plan with the intention of growing employees in the business who show leadership and growth potential
Cash Flow
Ø Planning, Reviewing, and monitoring activities across the operation ensure that costs are kept within budget parameters.
Ø Foster a good working relationship with the Commercial Team and assisting to ensure that the Lodge is positioned correctly with the correct accounts targeted.
Ø Participate in the budget compilation process and the implementation of annual budgets.

Operations
Ø Implement systems and procedure that ensure consistent service delivery in respect of the Day to Day running of the Lodge.
Ø Promote Audit Compliance across all areas of the Lodge and reviewing, monitoring action points and follow up.
Ø Facilitate weekly and monthly departmental meetings and growing inter-departmental meetings across all areas of the Lodge.

Sustainability, environmental and social programs
Ø Collaborate and engage with Sustainability Department and Foundations by assisting with the collective management of all programs related to the operations
Ø Manage the Micro (footprint) to Macro (research projects) aspects of our environmental practices always sharing this with our employees and guests
Ø Develop an engagement process between the environmental and social initiatives driven through the Foundation and the guests so as to include the conservation programs into Zambia.
Ø Continuously improve on the way in which the property operates from an efficiency point of view and with respect to the environment
Ø Development of initiatives to decrease our environmental footprint in Zambia.

Management and care of the assets
Ø Develop a standard and process to ensure the ongoing maintenance of all the facilities in Zambia including both front of house and back of house, facilities, services, and equipment.

Sales and Marketing
Ø Participate and drive the development of a Marketing plan within the brand and within the Group Sales and Marketing structures
Ø Assist in engaging and management of the relationships with the local DMC partners
