JOB DETAILS:
Duties
• The head mechanic will be responsible for the following duties:
• Leading a team of mechanics in fault diagnosis and repair of vehicles and machinery.
• Carrying out work orders and ensuring managements needs are met.
• Reporting any faults or complaints from drivers to the line manager.
• Adhering to safety and encouraging safety within the workshop among mechanics.
• Ensuring that the day to day assigned tasks are accomplished.
• Conduct vehicle assessments and report findings to the line manager.

Qualifications
• Must have a Craft Certificate in Automotive Engineering. A diploma will be an added advantage.
• Must have a driver’s license of class C1 or better. A PSV license will be an added advantage.

Experience
• Must have at least 4 years of experience in a dynamic automotive repair environment with a focus on both diesel and petrol engines.
• Previous experience in leading a group/team of fellow mechanics in completing intensive tasks.
• Experience in the rebuilding of transfer cases, gearboxes, and engines is a must.
• Experience with Ford diesel engines, MT82 gearboxes, and LT230 transfer cases will be an advantage.
• Outstanding fault diagnosis skills especially in sensor-based vehicles are a necessity.

Other requirements
• Able to plan or follow a planned maintenance schedule in the absence of the workshop manager.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Able to read and write as well as conduct research.
