JOB DETAILS:
We are recruiting for an inspirational leader to join Mary’s Meals Zambia, as our new Head of HR & People Development.
As Head of HR & People Development, you will play a key role in our Zambia Senior Leadership Team and drive HR excellence across Mary’s Meals Zambia. Based in Chipata and reporting to the Country Director, you will build and deliver a future focussed HR strategy aligned to our global People Strategy and our dearly held values. The Head of HR & People Development will lead the Zambia People team, supporting the continuous development of robust people policy frameworks to strengthen our programme and people, as we strive to reach the next child waiting for Mary’s Meals.
You will partner with the organisation to provide expert advice and guidance to managers on all HR matters, including, performance management, recruitment, employee development, complex employee relations issues, organisational design, workforce planning and complex change programmes. You will lead on the ongoing implementation of our values and leadership behaviours into all aspects of programme operations and will role model our values of simplicity, stewardship and service in every aspect of your role.

Key responsibilities:
• Take a proactive approach to HR compliance, legislation and risk management, ensuring risks and issues are identified, addressed and reported.
• Ensure that our Safeguarding framework is fully implemented and integrated.
• Work with our Senior Leadership Team on the development and implementation of pay, reward and benefits policies and packages to support attraction and retention.
• Lead the management of organisational development and change processes including restructures, expansions and contractions.
• Drive innovation in our HR practices and policies.
• Lead the Zambia People team, ensuring the team has the necessary skills, competencies, objectives and development plans in place to provide excellent service
• Manage delegated resources (e.g. budgets, equipment and contracts) as appropriate, to ensure good stewardship of resources and value for money.
• Work in partnership with the Mary’s Meals International People Team to ensure global projects are delivered, in support of the global people strategy
• Review, analyze and implement findings from culture and engagement surveys, ensuring our values remain at the core
• Oversee the development and implementation of a L&D plan including key learning interventions to support people development and capacity building.
• Oversee the collation, analysis and reporting of meaningful HR data and management information. Use this data to make recommendations and develop HR initiatives.
As Head of HR & People Development you must possess a minimum Degree level education in a relevant subject or equivalent, with a significant post qualification experience.
Strong track-record of working in a senior generalist HR position with experience of overseeing operational and strategic initiatives. bring significant experience of shaping, designing, and driving the delivery of innovative HR and L&D practices. Strong people leadership experience is essential, and you will thrive in a varied, dynamic role where you will have the opportunity to coach and support our leaders, inspire your team and collaborate across all levels and cultures. You will have extensive experience of working across all HR workstreams and will demonstrate absolute commitment to our dearly held values and leadership behaviours. An exceptional communicator, you will bring robust experience of managing complex programmes of work and will excel in developing strong working relationships across a global organisation.
Mary’s Meals is a global movement supported by people from all walks of life and we are focused on one goal – that every child receives a nutritious daily meal in a place of education. We continue to change the lives of over 2.2 million children who today will receive Mary’s Meals. We have been working in Zambia since 2014, and over 422,909 receive Marys’ Meals.
