JOB DETAILS:
Wildlife Crime Prevention is a Zambian based organisation that works nationally across Zambia,
providing support to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife and other government authorities. The main goal of WCP is to coordinate closely with key DNPW personnel and NGOs working in and around Zambia’s National Parks.

Position Overview:
The Human Resource Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of human resources within the organisation. This includes recruitment, employee relations, performance management, policy development, and compliance with relevant labour laws and regulations.

Scope of Work
The position includes but not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities

a) Employee Relations and Performance Management:
a. Develop and maintain positive employee relations by addressing employee concerns,
grievances, and conflict.
b. Advise and support managers in conducting performance evaluations and providing
constructive feedback.
c. Identify training and development needs and coordinate appropriate initiatives.
d. Implement performance improvement plans when necessary.

b) Policy Development and Compliance:
a. Develop and update HR policies and procedures in accordance with local labour laws and
best practices.
b. Ensure compliance with labour laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
c. Provide guidance and support on legal and ethical issues related to human resources.
d. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases.

c) Compensation and Benefits:
a. Administer the organisation’s compensation and benefits programs (gratuity, contracts,
medical aid, fuel, talk time, etc).
b. Conduct regular checks to ensure WCP remains competitive with regards to salaries,
benefits, etc.
c. Monitor and manage employee leave, sick leave, and other absences

d) HR Administration:
a. Prepare HR reports and metrics for management.
b. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive HR information appropriately.
c. Stay up-to-date with trends and developments in the field of human resources.

e) Recruitment and Selection:
a. Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies and procedures to attract qualified
candidates.
b. Advertise job vacancies, screen applications, and conduct interviews.
c. Coordinate the selection process, including reference checks and background screenings.
d. Prepare employment contracts and manage the onboarding process for new hires.
e. Conduct exit interviews and handle the offboarding process for departing employees.
f) Other:
a. Promote a positive work environment.
b. Maintain minutes for general meetings where required.
c. Perform receptionist duties when needed.

Required Skills/Experience
a) Senior Secondary (Grade 12) Certificate.
b) Minimum a Diploma in Human Resources and/or Administration related qualifications.
c) Minimum 2-year prior experience in HR roles and practical exposure to various HR functions will be
an added advantage.
d) A strong understanding of human resources principles, policies, and practices is crucial.
e) Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective interaction with
employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
f) Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
g) Strict conviction to meet deadlines and attention to detail.
h) Ability to Demonstrate a high level of integrity and maintain strict confidentiality and credibility
within the organisation.
i) Knowledge and familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS) or other HR software is valuable.
j) Ability to work independently under minimal supervision – self-motivated and goal oriented.

Duration and Remuneration
The position of Human Resource Officer is a full time, permanent position. The remuneration package will
be commensurate with qualification and experience.
